WUSA - The Welsh Unsigned Stand-up Award A competition for aspiring Welsh and Welsh based Stand-up Comedians Three judges are chosen each year to preside over the competition.

WUSA was establish in 2010 as a vehicle to help the progression of the Stand up comedy community in South Wales. Soon after its induction 'The Glee Club' offered to support the competition giving it the added incentive of being directly linked to the professional comedy circuit. With prize money of £1000 offered by the sponsor 'Cardiff Homes', the Winner can take the opportunity to have time off w

ork or to pay to travel to the clubs she/he needs to impress at. 'The Glee Club Club' getting on board allows the winner to be showcased on a professional stage with a paid weekend that can afford their reputation the points it needs. The judges are industry professionals with experience of booking, reviewing and performing. The heats are held in Cardiff. Newer acts are asked to attend prelim rounds where the perform 5-7 minutes of material and are advised on what they should do next. For the heats proper, each act must perform no less than 9 and no more than 12 minutes of orginal material they have permission to use. One from each heat goes through to the random draw for the semi-finals during the Cardiff Comedy Festival. The Semi's line-up will be completed by wildcards chosen by the judges. The 6 finalists take to the stage at the Cardiff Glee to see who will be crowned WUSA Winner and recipient of the 'Purple Fez'.
