The 48-Hour Film Project is happening July 7-9 in Asheville, which is a great opportunity to fully dip your toes into filmmaking for a weekend and produce a short film in 48 hours. There are always new people and teams taking on the challenge, which also means common pitfalls (audio!) that can be avoided. Come to the AVLFilm event where 48 Producer and two-time Asheville winner Sean Soboleski will talk about common mistakes so you can focus on making your film incredible. Sean will be joined by three-time writer and one-time city winner Whitley Albury from 4 to 6 on Sunday, June 11th @ new makerspace The Elephant Door. 126 Swannanoa River Rd. This is a donation-based event so please support Elephant Door for donating the space. Snacks and beverages available for sale.

Thank you to everyone who braved the cold and came out! Turns out it's been THREE YEARS since the last mixer. I did this one as a bit of a test to see how much interest was there and it was a resounding success! It was so lovely to see so many familiar faces and of course some new ones as well. I didn’t realize it was trivia night, hence hanging out in the frigid air. I so enjoyed talking with everyone and handing out damn near all of the Cat Fly shirts I had. There will be more mixers. Cheers!

So there's a mixer finally! Like this post if you would appreciate a facebook event for this. I know it's easy, I'm just not a fan of this platform and have many times considered shutting this page down altogether because it doesn't get much activity anyway. Thoughts? Who pays attention to facebook still? Genuinely curious.

We’re back! It’s been about a thousand years but let’s do it. Monday, Feb 6th at 6pm. No topics, just come to Highland and talk with actual human beings about film. They used to have $3 flagship beers, kind of doubt it now.

Behold! The first AVLFilm mixer in...2.5 years!? What the hell, man. In any case, no agenda, just gathering film folks in person for the first time in a while. We'll be at The Whale in West AVL on Tuesday, July 5th at 6pm, in the outdoor picnic tables. Is that redundant? Have you ever seen a picnic table inside? YOU HAVE? Well come join us at The Whale and tell us all about it. There will be an AVLFilm sign somewhere on the table.
