“Inspiration for my mixtape was the process of DJing in itself. It’s a lot of fun browsing through music, buying new records, revisiting
your favourite trax on the shelves and USB drives, preparing your own tracks, and finally figuring out the right tracklist for the mixtape! I select tracks by myself, Finland’s DJ Lifegoals & DJ 90440, Chicago’s Maddjazz, Detroit’s Jimmy Edgar & Michael E, Beesmunt Soundsystem, L.M.Y.E from Bristol, to name a few. “

“That’s just a reminder post to my fellow producers: BACKUP YOUR DATA
Don’t bel ike me: i had all projects for my maschine plus one one micro sd card for three (3!) years of my life. Now it’s gone: completely shattered and can’t be restored. Old live sets would never be played, and i won’t be able to restore 95% of the material. So don’t be like me, backup your files.
What about me: I’ll be fine, i would make new live sets even better then before. This hits hard but i try to take it as a new chapter in life.
If you wanna help: book me to your gig, buy a ghost production, any of my tracks or sighn for my ableton classes.
Cheers, Bejenec!’

"I spent 3 months selecting tracks from my vinyl and digital collection, and buying new music here in Australia and overseas, to create the vibe I was after for this mix; which is a journey through some of my favourite types of dance and electronica.
Starting off at 120bpm and working my way up to 134bpm, with ups and downs and melodic moments, across a multitude of genres, taking inspiration from Clipp.Art.
As seen in the track list, I’ve included some of my favourite Australian artists/tracks that I’ve come across since living here: t.hanks, FSOM, DJ Swella, Sam Weston, Rydeen, DJ WHIPR SNIPR, along with a nod to home by the likes of Isaac Carter, Ross from Friends, Youandewan and Papa Nugs.
I hope you enjoy listening to the mix as much as I enjoyed creating it, and big thanks to the Clipp.Art crew for having me!"

Pina Tesla - Above The Clouds [CLIPP235]
After making a pulse racing debut on clipp.art in 2023, Pina Tesla returns with a taste of her forthcoming album. The less said about “Above the Clouds” the better really. We could talk about the clanging percussion, lullaby vocal, heavy 808 kick, and dreamy melodic lo-fi synths, the intimate flavour on a massive scale, and pure rawness we’ve come to love about Pina’s work. But it's probably better if we don't. That way we stop ourselves from talking for days about the simple playable repeat-ability that PT dials up to 11, or how she is truly on some new s**t. How this sounds and feels like dance dream time music for the club. How the BPMs aren't for the faint hearted but the emotional embrace and heavy atmosphere is oh so on point. It’s probably better we say little and let the sounds of “Above the Clouds” fill your brain and heart with the vibe Pina is pushing. It goes big and high, really high.

Hoshina Anniversary - Leave Behind [CLIPP234]
In Japanese folklore predating written text, “Amanojaku” is the name given to a demon-like creature usually who was thought to be able to provoke a person's darkest desires, instigating them into perpetrating wicked deeds. Also described as a “twisted person” or a being with an extremely contrary nature - someone that if ordered something, would do the opposite. As a way of description, this may not be an obvious choice when referring Hoshina Anniversary and his latest release, an introspective album titled “Leave Behind”, but as an artist accustomed to doing the opposite of what is expected, we would argue it be a fitting introduction for an artist consistent for the magnitude and variety of musical output beyond the last decade.
Opening track “What Can We Leave Behind In This World (この世界に何を残せるか)” sets the tone for what is to come. Interlacing layers of detuned keys falling endlessly into the void - a muted twist on the work of synth maestro’s AIR. Like much of the album, a leap of faith. There are elements of deconstruction and awareness throughout. “Essence (本質)” reporting from the front-lines of personal reflection “Self-will is born from a terrible lack. That's what my experience has told me” echoes around drum tones. But there are lo-fidelity flourishes wherever you look, on “Toukai (東海)”, “Asia” “Obsession (Kyouhaku Kannen 強迫観念)”, “Rine (輪廻)” and “Teinen (諦念)” clank along like the best of 2017 without ever trying to be as mired in coolness. It's a liberating look at Lo-Fi House.
“Landscape (風景)” is a song described by Hoshina as “About death, and when I wrote about death in relation to the landscape, I felt a sense of selflessness”. Quote the lyrics: “I thought I was obsessed with so many things. I feel myself becoming numb. Our own joys and sorrows seem to have nothing to do with the landscape that is spread out here.” Again the theme of leaving one’s history behind to discover the new self.
Inspired by Steely Dan and Weather Report, “Amanojaku (天邪鬼)” is a song described in Hoshina’s own words “created with a rather strange chord progression”. A song he says is about the crisis in social networking, which is no doubt a location where one finds many a “twisted person”. Quote the lyrics: “If you tell me Yes, Then I’ll tell you No. It's a boring communication. Desire for recognition. You are always right. I’m always wrong”. Words spoken by someone who if ordered to do something, would not be unlikely to do the opposite. But what other choice would you make when finding yourself tied into knots by the endless scroll of social activity. Much like a "twisted person".
Coming back to the theme of Life & Death (opposites or just different sides of the same coin?), and what is beyond, Hoshina has said if he were to die tomorrow he’d be happy he created this collection of songs, so it’s fitting “Leave Behind” ends with “Alone In A”. In a year we lost the great Japanese musical icon Ryuchi Sakamoto, this tune comes as a soothing balm to your humble narrator. It’s a song I could imagine the great man himself nodding along to. It also generated from a place Hoshina could only get to after abandoning almost all of the Japanese instruments and Watechno elements present in his work over the last 5 years. We resonated with this overall feeling ourselves, having changed what we are as a record label/event/concept over the last 5 years. Not often looking back. But like most things in this mortal coil, we must be prepared to leave behind the things we do and are, moving always towards the new. Sometimes in the most opposite of places.

Hoshina Anniversary - Amanojaku (天邪鬼) + Landscape (風景) [CLIPP233]
In prehistoric Japanese folklore “Amanojaku” is the name given to a demon-like creature. This creature is usually depicted as a kind of small troll-like demon (known as an “oni”) who was thought to be able to provoke a person's darkest desires, instigating them into perpetrating wicked deeds. A “twisted person”. Sometimes used to describe a being with an extremely contrary nature, someone that if ordered something, would do the opposite. This might be a strange introduction but might be the best way to set a discussion about our friend Hoshina Anniversary and his new introspective album “Leave Behind” from where the tracks “Amanojaku (天邪鬼)” and “Landscape (風景)” are lifted. Not that we would ever think of Hoshina as a small troll demon, but to say he is an artist not unaccustomed to doing the opposite of what is expected, then a fitting description indeed.
“Leave Behind” is an electronic album created mostly using non-electronic instruments, featuring Hoshina’s vocals and socially noncompliant lyrical styling. It’s a boring communication. Desire for recognition. You are always right. I’m always wrong”. Words spoken by someone who if ordered to do something, would not be unlikely to do the opposite. But what other choice would you make when finding yourself tied into knots by the endless scroll of social activity. Regardless, “Amanojaku (天邪鬼)” is a total vibe of a tune.
On the opposite end, “Landscape (風景)” is a song described by Hoshina as “About death, and when I wrote about death in relation to the landscape, I felt a sense of selflessness”. It’s a tune that wouldn't find itself out of place on an album by synth maestro’s AIR and which contains as much gravity as I think the French legends ever did. Quote the lyrics: “I thought I was obsessed with so many things. I feel myself becoming numb. Our own joys and sorrows seem to have nothing to do with the landscape that is spread out here.” A beautiful sentiment and fitting taste of what’s to come on “Leave Behind”.

Sounds Like A Good Mixtape- Felix G [CLIPPMIX087]
On his third outing “Kingdom of The Past”, Felix takes those prior concepts and turns them up several vibes. I dare you not to fall in love with the addition of a pondering guitar riff. It welcomes you to a place where you can forget that “145BPM” is a thing (even if just for a moment). You know that an avalanche of Tik Tok Techno is ready to obliterate you entirely, collapsing on you in the next Boiler Room or HOR video, but for this moment allow yourself to slide into Felix’s safe space. It may sounds passé but I do think it might also be The Future. Chill and bump the groove. It’s nice to visit the Kingdom of The Past.

"For this mix I’ve put together a little journey through different styles of house that I love - from deep to tech to classic. I wanted to create a set that built from beginning to end with the intention of keeping it rolling and grooving throughout. This one features lots of boppy bass lines and vocals which I love hearing and playing. My favourite track at the moment sits in the middle of the set called Love Attack by RSquared. It has an 80’s indie feel with lots of whips and big open snares. The vocal just makes me smile and feels super nostalgic. I hope you enjoy listening!!" - Shanti

Across the blistering pump of “Others” and “Static”, 808 driven electro groove and low bass of “CCTV” and “Init”, breakneck rhythms of “Northern Lights”, and broken computer punch of “All Them To Rule You” and “Encrypted Channel”, Tracya injects an sci-fi otherworldliness and whirlpool ambience that detaches listeners, while pulling them deeper into the maelstrom with each passing iteration. The effect is not unlike cybernated waves of an acid ocean crashing against the shores of distant memory, a place where you can both observe and participate, the opportunity to lose control ever present. BEJENEC - Kylie Minilogue [CLIPP242] There’s something very familiar about this second single from BEJENEC’s forthcoming debut album. Something in the 4 minutes and 12 seconds of raw synthesised dance power overload that “Kylie Minilogue” embodies that I just can’t put my finger on. It’s in my head. But it’s like I just can't get it out. Maybe I'm overthinking it. I keep hearing it though. Every night. Every day. Maybe I’ll stop thinking about just enjoy it. La-la-la. Bejenec - Post-Trunk [CLIPP239] Released almost 5 years ago to the day of Bejenec’s stunning debut track “on clipp.art People often ask us how we continually / consistently uncover such amazing talent from around the world. I could go on for hours about it but the short answer is we just look… really, really hard. We go deep, with an open mind, and an ear tuned acutely to “the vibe”. It’s not a popularity contest and definitely not about expectations of what we are as a label. We've never been about a “sound” but more an attitude: we like what we like, and we aren’t afraid to back it. We put our money where our mouth is, so to speak. In that spirit, Ukrainian bad bwoy Bejenec has to be one of my favorite discoveries of the last year. His artist bio describes him as “young ukrainian artist and producer who performs razor-sharp melodic live acts, traversing breakbeat, acid, techno etc”. Which in 2019 is pretty standard, BUT it was the simple use of “etc” that really pulled me in with an immediate sense of playfullness and zero-f**k-giving. I find that essence permeating throughout all his music & online visual diaries (his instagram, cheekyly titled “@albms4free” alone is certain to mess up the algorithms of your mind). Bejenec’s music grabs your attention like that cheap male hooker that is surprisingly, impossibly hot. Standing at 3am on the corner of a bad street, in a neighbourhood you really shouldn't feel comfortable in, but you find yourself "into it". It has “double take” factor, and for us, THAT is the vital ingredient.
Pina Tesla - Take It Back [CLIPP240] Pina Tesla drops another tastebud burning single from her imminent debut album. Sliding on the glassy surfaces between warehouse rave and cavernous techno “Take It Back” is a heart pounding reminder of post-hardcore energy to emerge from dancefloors of Southeast Europe. The Istanbul based artist among a minority of DJ/producers bursting out on the clipp.art catalogue in recent years by capturing our unconsciousness with a mix of lofi sensibility and hard techno intensity, wrapped in layers of emotional atmospherics. “Take it Back” is just the latest from an artist prepared to reclaim the sound of the underground. Download - https://fanlink.tv/CLIPP240
Plastic GRN - Lost Mary [CLIPP238] Plastic GRN made his debut on clipp.art half way through 2019 with the fiercely funky “Ohh Perck”, a major weapon in the fight against Funk Inequality®, which graced many a USB stick. Since then we’ve seen the end of the world in both viral and artificial intelligence senses (editor note: ok maybe just “the start” of the end of the world), and plenty of changes of the guard in musical taste and attitude. In 2024, Plastic GRN returns with his Lost Mary EP - a short collection of biting bangers aimed squarely at the centre of the dance floor. Beginning with the broken robot energy of “FM2”, a wake up call for the troops, with a powerful second act guaranteed to elicit rhythmic finger pointing at speakers. Then sliding into titular track “Lost Mary” a piano stabbed belter that harkens back to the power hour of 2000’s french house (ed: see Institubes et al Surkin, Das Glow, etc). Closing out the trio of tasty thumpers is “Blissim”, a rave-tastic sirens call to pick up arms (and legs). Seriously people, these shapes ain’t going to cut themselves. Yeah, times change, people move, attitudes evolve, Barbie should've won all the Oscars. Sometimes you are lost, sometimes you are found. And sometimes we feel like observers, trying to understand the movement of the stars, watching the red shift and trying to make sense of it all. Thankfully Plastic GRN is shining a light so we can find our way in the dark. Of the dancefloor. https://fanlink.tv/clipp238
YAOB - OXYGN [CLIPP237A] Hailing from the vibrant crossroads of Lebanese and African heritage, YAOB is a producer and creator doing his thing in Melbourne Australia. Already a prolific producer working with artists including Baker Boy, Miss Kaninna, and Jerome Farah, YAOB now opens the account on his very own artist project via the glorious Yellow Castle of our clipp.art imprint. His vibe for funk rhythms, chunky beats, heavy basslines, and just as heavy doses of F.U.N, are all front and center on debut single “Oxygn”. Ensconced in a world where cultures converge and rhythms ignite the young producer plants his flag with a corker of a tune. Oxygn isn’t exactly a sound we’ve come to champion in the past, but if you ever met YAOB and the sheer fun that comes from cutting shapes whenever this one gets thrown on speakers cements a place on the walls in our beloved La Casa de la Giallo. Breathe deep. Get some Oxygn. Download- https://fanlink.to/oxygn

Levi. - GARÇON [CLIPP230] Contrary to popular belief, the fashion brand Comme des Garçons is not French. It was founded by Japanese creative Rei Kawakubo in the late '60s in Tokyo. The Japanese designer was inspired by a song called "All the Boys and Girls," by Francoise Hardy. Comme des Garçons itself is French though.. It translates to "like some boys". When you hear the word though you think of the scene in Pulp Fiction. Pumpkin calls out “Garçon! Coffee!” The Waitress sardonically replies “ 'Garçon' means boy.” She’s not wrong. Back in 1981, Rei Kawakubo held her first fashion show in Paris, but by then, she was already a household name in Japan — her fans were called the "Black Crows". Knowing the fashions of Comme des Garçons, it’s not hard to understand why, even though Fashion itself isn’t often easy to appreciate and let’s not even begin on understanding. But most people know what they like. And we like Levi. Levi lives in Japan. And from what we understand, Levi understands fashion. You listen to Levi’s music. It's kinda catwalk music. Slinky. Low slung. Lo fi. Made for all the boys and girls. Or maybe the Black Crows. 'Garçon' means boy. Or something in-between. Download - https://fanlink.to/garconlevi
