The Raw Alternative began in October 2011 as an answer to the every day bland formats that mainstream radio has to offer. The focus is geared toward featuring artists of the past and present alternative, punk, industrial and underground scenes which the mainstream have overlooked or exploited through time. We feature all the hits and deep cuts from the artsts

mainstream radio won’t touch! The Raw Alternative also focuses on the happenings of the Youngstown local art and music scenes. We feature local musicians, artists, poets, writers and film makers and provide them an outlet to promote their creativity. It quickly grew a following, opening people’s minds to real, raw art! In 2012, The Raw Alternative online magazine launched as a means to further feature the music, art and poetry that we love. Issues launch monthly at www.rawalternative.com and subscriptions are available for FREE. By early 2013, Jennifer Elizabeth Rose (AKA Ms. Rose) joined The Raw Alternative as a permanent co-pilot. Her musical, social and cultural input has added an interesting new flavor to both the show and magazine.
