As of 2020, it is also a record label. We focus on personalities crisscrossing art, music and culture with strong ties to our home, New York City.
Launched in February 2015, Love Injection is a self-published New York dance music and culture fanzine available at independent record stores nationally and globally, founded by Paul Raffaele & Barbie Bertisch. Love Injection is a monthly print-first music fanzine established in February 2015 by Barbie Bertisch & Paul Raffaele in Brooklyn, New York, with a record label launched in 2020. We are inf
initely curious about all styles of music and the radiating effects it has on communities. We are dedicated to excavating stories that fill the gaps, contradict and tie together the densely published history of the city. We’re in print to give you a break from the digital noise and create a tangible archive of ideas, ephemera and ultimately, a moment in time. Clicks are fleeting. Online archives are disappearing. Zines are collected, saved and passed on to new generations. It’s important for us to give a platform to the underserved figures that have previously and are currently shaping our communities as we know them. Between the covers you’ll find long-form interviews, think pieces, original illustrations, record charts, photo essays, book reviews, poetry, technical tutorials, local party recommendations and new formats weaving in and out each month. Our interviews are always conducted live, recorded and transcribed with minimal editing to capture the truest intent of the speaker. More than anything else, our goal is to build and foster a like-minded, music- obsessed community to have shared, enlightened experiences together.

Upstairs, Takaya Nagase () sets sail on a vinyl-only journey. In the Sound Room, we stretch out as we’ve grown to enjoy together. Richard Alvarez () will return to the door to set the mood.

We had a ball DJing the Nursery two weeks back with and thanks to (📸), there is proof!
In quick succession, our next party is an all-room takeover at on Saturday September 7th - that includes the Sound Room, the Atrium and Upstairs! Last time we did this was for our anniversary at the top of 2024 and it was a “a multi floor dance and friendship explosion 💥” as put it, bringing together the musical pieces and friend groups under one roof. It remains one of our many highlights this year.

Took a little break but now we’re back with a fresh batch for July/August.

Brimming with anticipation for Friday night at the Lena Horne Bandshell at Prospect Park for . To mark the occasion, invited us to do a Record Rundown. Hard to pin down our top 10 Arthur records (spanning all his aliases), but we did our best. Some personal favorites, some historically pivotal, some lesser known… all are Killer (Whale) no filler! Having attended some amazing shows at the Lena Horne bandshell in Prospect Park and with deep admiration to the work of , we are thrilled to be part of Travels Over Feeling: Celebrating Arthur Russell. This free event is ambitiously envisioned and thoughtfully curated by , who put together an exploration across the musical spectrum of Russell’s work from the club to the chamber. This night is in celebration of the latest book by , published by , and will feature the acclaimed Wordless Music Orchestra, conducted by Bill Ruyle, performing Tower of Meaning (1983)—a New York premiere. DJ sets by and us will round out the night.
Hope you can join us on this incredibly meaningful and genre-defying night of music, free and open to all. We’re excited to explore the many rings of Arthur’s musical life and community 🪐

Excited to share who will be joining us July 4-6 at for Universal Lessons 2024. Each year we set out to bring music people of complimentary sensibilities together for a weekend of full immersion in nature. This year is no exception, including extended family returning to the weekender and some new faces.
For those who haven’t firmed up plans yet, there were just 2 rooms available last week. Friends looking to come up can also book nearby. More details on these slides but feel free to write us with any questions.
