When Alexa Dombkoski from contacted BBR for a phone call, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I quickly began researching her brand and product. Bellemille offers Cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil locally sourced from a single family farm in Tuscany. Created in the town of Reggello, which has been certified as an “olive oil city,” this family farm only uses sustainable farming practices. Bellemille never sees the inside of a factory. It has no fillers, no preservatives, and is produced with an overall respect for the farmers and the land. They produce as much extra virgin olive oil as the land and weather allow each year.

Yet, it wasn’t solely about the oil or amazing quality of her product. It was our “casual” phone call evolving into a two-hour conversation between two women dedicated to their brands that left me eager to collaborate with Bellemille. Alexa and I both share backgrounds in restaurants, juggle multiple jobs to fuel our dreams, share a mutual passion for Italy, and quality food. It became clear: our shared passion and commitment to ourselves and beliefs is what truly aligned our brands. Also, the fact that we both believe in the simplicities of life, “good food, good wine, & good company.” Body By Rigatoni is proud to represent Bellemille.

“Eating meals is sacred in Italian culture and spending time at the table is not only to eat. The table is where you get to be together and have conversation. I have never finished my food and immediately left the table in Italy. From preparing the meal to your last sip of amaro at the table, you feel a sense of belonging, connection, and togetherness. Italians do not eat just to eat. Their food is enjoyed and prepared with time and respect. Good food and a good life go hand in hand. They know the details of food, its taste, texture, origin, season and they take pride in this knowledge. You will find that there is a purpose and reason behind everything they believe and do.”

The last few months leading up to warmer weather all I can think about is Summer in Italy! I daydream of summer days spent at the lido enjoying the Mediterranean sun and taking a dip in the sea to cool off. I count the days until I enjoy a typical summer in Southern Italy. On Italian time, we rush to the lido to secure a row close to the sea, enjoy a fresh lido lunch, nap in the sun after lunch, and then go for a swim after the nap. I think about the beautiful sunsets I’ve been fortunate to see and our long stays at the lido talking until the sun goes down. The probable chance I will enjoy gelato (maybe a Cremino Algida which inspired this hats font) & finally a late night dinner. All the while, I wish that Summer in Italy would never end.
