“Most of the project was photographed at el Paraíso [Eng: Paradise], a beach in the Mexican Pacific in the state of Colima. Due it’s geographical location it’s constantly devastated by natural disasters and even though the conditions run against human presence, there is a small population that lives there by offering services for rare tourists. I chose El Paraíso because since the first time I got there I felt it so surreal, special and with a touch of nostalgia that caught me. It worked perfectly as a personal escape and immediately identified with what was going in with life and myself at that time.” / Claudia Lopez Ortega.

Zine Workshop: From Photos to Publication

For photographers, capturing images is just the first step in telling a compelling story. This hands-on workshop offers essential guidance in project analysis, editing, sequencing, design, and material selection—key elements to transform your photos into a cohesive and powerful zine. Join Yana Kruse and Calin Kruse from dienacht Magazine + Publishing to create your own publication and master the art of storytelling through the zine medium.

When:
30 October: 10:00 – open end (minimum until 6 PM)
31 October: 10:00 – open end (minimum until 6 PM)

Where:
Varpet, 35v Tumanyan St.

Submit the following by October 25 to [email protected]:

We will work closely with participants on producing a zine from their own photo projects, emphasising project analysis, editing, sequencing, design, and the importance of materials. The workshop culminates in each participant creating a printed zine.
