i used to eat durians on newspaper on the floor with my extended family in kedah. my uncle would surprise the kids with durians after dinner time; it was a whole family affair… and i miss that 💚

this was my first time on a hot air balloon, and i wanted to share with you the timeline of doing one with global ballooning through @cityofmelbourne! 🫶
✅ 6pm the night before: email confirmation for your flight once the weather is cleared
💤 9pm: sleep
⏰ 4:45am: get up
🚗 5:15am: get to pullman on the park (we scheduled an uber!)
🗒️ 5:35am: arrive for check-in
🚐 5:55am: leave in van with the group
🌳 6:10am: arrive at royal park
🔥 6:30am: hot air balloons start to get blown
🎈 6:45am: off we gooOOoO!!! 😍
💨 depending on the wind speeds on the day, your landing time may differ
🎉 8am: land and pack balloon!
🚐 8:40am: van will bring you back to pullman on the park
🔖 during the day: receive a certificate that shows you’ve flown on a hot air balloon with global ballooning! 🥰🎈🫶
it was such a beautiful flight; and i was reminded of how beautiful melbourne is from a different point of view ✨
highly recommend to do it at least once in your life, and would definitely do it again!!!

2️⃣ you get a wealth of career + life experience. you’ll have new sets of challenges (language, career, culture shock, etc.) and experiences that you’ll carry with you for the rest of your life. once you meet new people, work for different jobs, and live a lifestyle that you can’t emulate back home. it’s the type of self discovery that only you can give yourself.
3️⃣ you’ll be able to build a network internationally. yes, you’ll be away from your loved ones, but they’re always a buzz or airplane ticket away. it’s a blessing to be able to live in an era where it doesn’t take a pigeon for communications. when you push yourself & make your network internationally, you open doors to opportunities that will no doubt set you apart from your peers.
