Our story (or some of it, anyway)
Drag in the Peg is a podcast series and media platform, created to document the lives and careers of drag performers living in Winnipeg, Manitoba, as well as support, amplify and promote our city’s thriving drag scene.
Drag in the Peg began under extremely boring circumstances: as the final project for host and founder Graeme Houssin’s college degree.
As a young q***r person isolated from their city’s 2SLGBTQ+ scene, their first experience with drag came from watching the infamous reality TV show RuPaul’s Drag Race. This sparked an interest in their local drag scene, and the inner machinations of Winnipeg’s greater q***r nightlife.
As they pursued documenting Winnipeg’s drag scene, what began as a limited-run, interview-style podcast series developed into a media platform, complete with live show photography, event promotion and regular updates on the scene’s goings-on. Drag in the Peg now lives as an independent news source, providing drag news and content to fans and performers interested in the Winnipeg scene.
