March 2, 2023 - Mr. Edward Cruz, Organizational Development Officer of The Farm at Carpenter Hill, Koronadal City, shares his practical experiences related to career planning at the Career Development Talk with BS in Tourism Management 3rd year held at the JIB Restaurant, Joji Ilagan International School of Hotel and Tourism Management, General Santos City.

The event is part of the industry engagement activities for the Career Development for Tourism and Hospitality Professionals Course of Asst. Prof. Dr. Aladin Ibrahim. The industry engagement activity provides opportunity for students to gain insights from industry professionals and players as a supplement to the classroom discussions and training.

JIB-ISHTM at JIB Davao 2023 Commencement Rites

Academic officials of Joji Ilagan International School of Hotel and Tourism Management supports the 40th Joji Ilagan Career Centre Foundation and 1st T.H.E International Management School Commencement Exercises at the SMX Convention Center Davao.

As part of the initiatives of creating a 'One JIB' culture among Joji Ilagan Group of International Schools, the academic team from JIB-ISHTM showed support to the momentous and historic event of JIB Davao. The Commencement Rites mark the 40th or Ruby graduation of the Joji Ilagan Career Centre Foundation and the 1st graduation of the T.H.E. International Management School. JIB-ISHTM Inks Extension Partnership MOA with Officials of Upper Labay, General Santos City

Joji Ilagan International School of Hotel and Tourism Management thru the NSTP-CWTS class of 2023 supported by the Supreme Student Council and members of the faculty and staff held the formal turnover program of the donated basketball ring for the community of Purok 4, Abtois, Upper Labay, General Santos City on January 28, 2023.

The Director of Academics Mr. Randy Roldan Lanozo and Chairman Celso Sago, Sr. with the community leader Kagawad Roben Parasan and Kagawad Ersamuel Masaglang led the Memorandum of Agreement Signing Ceremony for the long-term partnership of the school with Upper Labay community.

A friendly game between the community and JIB students and staff was initiated as part of the ceremony after the turnover followed by the distribution of rice packs, school supplies, and snacks for the residents.

JIB-ISHTM extends its Hands to Elders

Sustaining the vibes of the yuletide season, JIB-ISHTM, together with the members of the faculty and staff, extended its arms to the elderly community at Purok Pagkakaisa, Brgy. City Heights, General Santos City through a gift-giving activity on December 23, 2022, Friday.

Through the help of the community coordinator Nanay Concepcion Monterde, elders from the said community were gathered together for a simple Christmas party dedicated for them. Games and socials were part of the program. The excitement heightened when gifts were distributed comprised of rice, slippers, hygiene kit, and food supplies.

The activity made even more possible because of the kind hearts and assistance of 'Rosejoy Upholstery' and 'KJM Groceries atbp'.

Truly, JIB-ISHTM remains consistent with reaching and extending support to the in-need communities as part of its giving-back-to-community programs.

Strategic Planning for Innovation Excellence

The newly created Innovation Department of the Joji Ilagan International Schools successfully conducted its first unit strategic planning headed by the Director for Innovation Dr. Gypsy Mae Casurao at the THE International Management School, Davao City on December 22, 2022, Thursday.

The team (comprised of Research & Development, Marketing & Branding, Business Process & Standards, and Business Strategy & Analytics areas) revisited the JIB Strategy House and the new department structure in the beginning of the session followed by the review of the specific department strategies. Members of the team were tasked to draft and submit their Area A.C.T.I.O.N. Plans and other strategies that will contribute to the achievement of the overall excellence targets of the JIB group of international schools.

Food Fest is back in 2022!

After the restrictions of events due to the global pandemic, Food Fest 2022 sparked the night again with the fun-filled food treats at JIB-ISHTM on December 16, 2022, Friday.

Food Fest is an annual food and entrepreneurial night of JIB-ISHTM students. Food booths were setup for actual selling during the night paired with musical presentations, fashion flaunts, and socials.

Ms. Chinkee Bai Garcia of 3507 Bake & Brews, Ms. Cheza Cabahug of Kopi House, Ms. Emelou Talaboc and Ms. Nickel Acena of Hot Plate Gensan shared their success stories during the Entrepreneurship Day at Joji Ilagan International School of Hotel and Tourism Management on December 16, 2022, Friday.

Garcia, Cabahug, Talaboc, and Acena are alumni of JIB-ISHTM who are now successful in their own businesses gladly shared not only their success stories but also their challenges and how they were able to combat these struggles. Practical tips and tricks in business were also became one of the interesting parts of the sharing.

BS in Tourism Management and Hospitality Management students exhibited their Business Plan actual products at the JIB Pavillion in celebration of the Food Fest 2022 on December 16, 2022, Friday.

Student entrepreneurs not only showcased their creativity in their products but also their business pitching skills.

Assisted by their paper adviser Dr. Aladin Ibrahim, the following business proposals were exhibited:

1. Vegan Stove Savory Hub ( a vegan-inspired food store)

2. SuManylicious (assortment of suman filled with Filipino sweets)

3. Mango Mojo Sweets of Thai (assortment of rich Thai-inspired mango sticky rice dishes)

4. Cassava ni Mama (a cassava dish topped with assorted classic Filipino desserts)

5. Maki ni Inang (a fusion of Japanese and Filipino sushi varieties)

2nd Term Kicks Off

General Orientation for Students for the 2nd Term of the Academic Year 2022-2023 was conducted at The Pavillion on Wednesday, December 14, 2022.

During the orientation, school policies were reiterated including policies on student behavior, uniform and dress code, health and safety protocol, and school events for the term.

New faculty members were introduced formally during the time as well as the new members of the school administration. Headed by Mr. Randy Roldan Lanozo, the School Dean (concurrent) and the Director of Academics formally introduced new campus officials: Ms. Pacita Mae Pamplona as the Program Head of the Culinary and Hospitality Management programs, Ms. Shyla Vee Belarga as the Program Head of the Tourism Management program, and Dr. Aladin Ibrahim as the Coordinator for Research and Publication.

A Thanksgiving Mass in celebration of the Ruby Year (40th year) of the JIB Group of Companies was held right after the orientation program, and was joined by the Executive Board including Ms. Joji Ilagan Bian, the Chairman of the Joji Ilagan Career Centre Foundation, Inc., Ms Nicole Nina Hao Bian-Ledesma, the Chief Operating Officer of the JIB International Schools, Dr. Gypsy Casurao, the Director of Innovation, Mr. Joe Paras, the Director for Finance, Mr. Joel Botoy, HRD Head for Non-teaching personnel, Mr. Ernie John, Gabriel, the HRD Head for Academics, Careen Hao Bian, Member of the Board of Trustees, Ms. Ana Gelbolingo, Admin Head of Six Eleven Davao, and Ms. Abbygale Alburo, the Executive Assistant to the Founder. Students and faculty members of the Stockbridge American International School-GenSan were also in attendance.

Savoureux Bangs a Big Comeback

The 8th Savoureux Culinary Skills Presentations and Competitions of the Joji Ilagan International School of Hotel and Tourism officially opens today, October 28, 2022 at the Veranza Mall Activity Center.

Savoureux is an annual culinary event organized by the Junior Culinary Executives Association (JCEA) or the Culinary Management department of JIB-ISHTM.
After the surge of the global pandemic, Savoureux stages its first face-to-face presentations and culinary competitions.

This year highlights the following competitions:

JIB-ISHTM Holds Forum on Tourism and Economy

JIB-ISHTM successfully conducted the Forum on Tourism and Economy as part of the school's celebration of this year's World Tourism Month organized by the Junior Tourism Professionals Council of the Tourism Management program at the JIB Pavillion on September 29, 2022.

Dr. Leonard Villanueva Flores, the resource speaker and the current City Economic Manager of the Local Government of the City of General Santos, shared about the economic programs of the city and highlighted how tourism, travel, events, and hospitality business and entrepreneurship play major roles in the programs and economic priorities of the city.

He also added that the economic development office of the city eyes on other current and future economic thrusts and priorities such as strengthening the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions/Conferences, and Exhibitions) and halal tourism, working on the build tourism and medical tourism. All of these efforts are inspired by the goals to position the city as one of the most competitive cities in the ASEAN region guided by the sustainable development and inclusive business frameworks.

The said activity is part of the learning series for the week-long celebration of the World Tourism Day with the theme: "Rethinking Tourism".

SAIS-GenSan Hosts Fire Safety Awareness and Earthquake Drill Activities

Hosted by the Stockbridge American International School (SAIS)-GenSan in partnership with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and attended by both graders and college students, fire-safety seminar and earthquake drill were push through on September 16, 2022, Friday at The Pavillion, JIB GenSan campus.

The said activity comprised of fire-safety seminar primarily for graders, and campus-wide earthquake drill facilitated by FO3 Lou-Renz S. Framil and FO2 Ressa Mia T. Tactaquin from the BFP GenSan.

iFresh Blasts a Remarkable 'Comeback' Feel

JIB-ISHTM successfully conducted its first face-to-face iFresh Student Onboarding Celebration 2022 at the Pavillion, JIB-ISHTM, General Santos City on September 8, 2022 after the surge of the global pandemic. The said event is one of the flagship events and a tradition which aims to welcome the students and officially open the school for the new academic year.

During the event, various talents from old and new students were showcased through musical and other arts performances. Also, the induction program was held for the new set of student officers, and the recognition program for the student achievers of the school term.
