Draymond Green makes a good point!

Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark seems to be unfairly targeted by her peers in the WNBA.
"I feel like I'm getting hammered. I just — I don't know," Clark said. Cheap shots were taking at her during Saturday's game against the Chicago Sky.

In light of Clark getting targeted, Draymond Green feels it's time for Fever to "invest in an enforcer" whose job would be to protect their prized rookie.

Brittney Griner to Caitlin Clark: WNBA Is 'Different' with Players Trying to 'Feed Their Families'
The WNBA legend spoke with PEOPLE about her ten-month detainment in Russia, her new memoir and the talented young players entering the league
With Caitlin Clark already making a splash (and bank) as the No. 1 overall pick by the Indiana Fever in the 2024 WNBA draft, a player who has been in her position is offering words of support — and a word of warning.
“The hype that Caitlin and some others have right now is amazing for the league,” says Brittney Griner, 33, who details her 10-month Russian detainment in this week’s issue of PEOPLE. “There’s good talent coming in.”
Griner, who recently re-signed with the Phoenix Mercury, the team she’s spent 10 seasons with after becoming their No. 1 overall pick in 2013, understands the hype that comes with being deemed a “generational” player. The 6’9” center was already throwing down rim-rattling dunks as an 18-year-old high schooler in Houston, Texas. (She dunked 52 times in 32 games, going viral in the process.) As No. 1 high school prospect in the country, Griner committed to Baylor University, where she was a three-time All-American, an AP Player of the Year, an NCAA National Champion and a 2012 ESPY winner for Best Female Athlete.
Despite the accolades, Griner remembers a difficult transition to the next level. “It’s different, when you come from college to the pros,” says Griner of what Clark and others will face in the WNBA. “I went from top dog to my numbers going down a bit. You’re going up against grown women. This is how they feed their families. This is not just for the love of the [game]. This is their livelihood.”
Griner, who calls her 2013 rookie season an “eye-opener,” says that Clark, 22, will have to adjust her game to account for the tougher competition. “I had to get stronger, lock in a little more. There will be some growing [pains] for her, but she’ll be fine.”
She admits she followed the NCAA Women’s Championship closely, and that she wasn’t rooting for Clark’s Iowa Hawkeyes — no disrespect intended. As it happens, Griner’s longtime friend, mentor and former Team USA coach, Dawn Staley, is the current coach of the South Carolina Gamecocks, who defeated Iowa on April 7 in the final game.
“I saw [Staley] at the Final Four, right before the National Championship. I told her, ‘Go get it. That's yours.’ I just knew South Carolina was going to win. The way Dawn prepares — I've said it so many times — the way she prepares those young ladies to play basketball, but also prepares them for life…. She really cares about how they grow as people, and grow in society. It's amazing what she's doing.”
Griner thanks Staley in her memoir, Coming Home, for the work she did to keep her in the public consciousness during her Russian detainment. “While in Russia, my greatest fear was that I’d be forgotten,” she writes in the acknowledgements. “Thank you for reminding the world of me daily on social media. You spoke my name to anyone who would listen. You also forfeited your visit to the White House to get my wife [Cherelle Griner] a meeting with President Biden. You’re a force and a friend.”
The Phoenix Mercury and Indiana Fever will meet for the first time this season on June 30, potentially placing Clark and Griner on the court at the same time. By then, the two could also be squad mates on Team USA; the selection committee will name the final 12-woman roster in early summer. Griner, a two-time veteran, should be a lock. And Clark, while young, could prove too good to deny a spot.
Whether at the Olympics or in the WNBA, Griner says she still has more to prove, but she’ll be honest with herself when it’s time to wrap up her sterling career.
“I used to say I’d play until the wheels fell off,” she says. “But when I can’t produce the way I want to produce, I’ll hang it up. I don’t want to push the envelope or hold back the team. When I can’t hang with them anymore, I’ll [retire]. Whatever number [of seasons] that is.”

Caitlin Clark Just Did Something That No Athlete Has Done Since Michael Jordan In The 1980s
Caitlin Clark is not even through five games of her first year in the WNBA, yet she continues to rack up the cash.
Caitlin Clark has held a basketball since she was a young child. Thus, her most recent endorsement agreement—with athletic equipment company Wilson—seems like a perfect fit.
The WNBA’s official basketball maker and Clark, the No. 1 overall draft choice chosen by the Indiana Fever, have signed a multiyear sponsorship deal. Clark joins Michael Jordan as the only other player to represent Wilson as a brand ambassador in the 1980s.
In a news release announcing the partnership, Clark recalled playing with a Wilson ball in her driveway as a child.
“I loved that thing more than anything. My brothers and I would always fight over it,” she said.
Later this year, Clark will also launch a trademark basketball collection. Today, one item will be made available: a Wilson basketball from the WNBA that has significant moments from Clark’s career etched on it. According to Boardroom, only Michael Jordan of the Chicago Bulls and the WNBA’s No. 1 draft pick have released a Wilson collection.
Wilson will additionally assist the Caitlin Clark Foundation, which uses athletics, education, and good nutrition to improve communities. Financial terms of the partnership were not disclosed.

Wilson joined forces with the WNBA, NBA, NBA G League, NBA 2K League, and Basketball Africa League in 2020 to become the leagues’ official game ball. The WNBA’s current ball debuted in the 2022 season.

After finishing her collegiate career at the University of Iowa, Caitlin Clark was selected first in the WNBA draft by the Fever.
She reportedly signed a new endorsement deal with Nike.
According to a report from The Athletic, Clark is expected to sign a $28 million contract with Nike, and that deal will include her own signature shoe.
During her tenure at Iowa, Clark had a name, image, and likeness arrangement with Nike. That specific contract, which she had signed in 2022, ended at the conclusion of the 2023–2024 season. This new agreement would be the highest-paying endorsement contract ever signed by a female basketball player in history.

Angel Reese Assessed Flagrant Foul After Hitting Caitlin Clark In The Head While Taking Shots During Postgame Press Conference
In the third quarter of Sunday’s game against the Indiana Fever, Angel Reese was assessed a flagrant-1 foul after making contact with Caitlin Clark’s head during a block attempt.

Reese, who scored 11 points, 13 rebounds, and five assists, made a “special whistle” comment that seemed directed toward Clark, who also shot a game-high six free throws.

The Sky rookie also criticized the officials, claiming their calls were not consistent.

“For inside, I think we were playing really hard. I think we went up strong a lot of times and we didn’t get a lot of calls,” Reese said. “Going back and looking at the film, I’ve seen a lot of calls that weren’t made. I guess some people got a special whistle.

“I’m still proud of Kamilla [Cardoso] going out and still getting a double-double. That’s something y’all are not going to be able to stop, regardless of the referees. We’re here for a while. We’re not going to be denied, no matter what you guys try to do. But, our goal is to win, and we’re going to do whatever it takes to win.”

Caitlin Clark Leads Early Projections for Team WNBA Roster to Face Team USA in 2024 All-Star Game

As the 2024 WNBA All-Star Game approaches, excitement is building for the event set to take place in Phoenix on July 20. For the first time, the showcase will feature Team USA against Team WNBA, a unique format that promises to add a new level of competitiveness and intrigue.

Fan voting for the All-Star Game opens Thursday and will continue through June 29. This year, the voting process has been modified to accommodate the format. Fans will vote for ten players, including four backcourt and six frontcourt players, with all active players eligible, even those on the Team USA roster.

The top ten vote-getters will automatically earn All-Star spots. If any of these players are not on Team USA, they will be placed on the Team WNBA roster. The next 36 highest vote-getters will be considered by the league’s coaches to fill the remaining spots on the 12-player Team WNBA roster.

Here are the early projections for the Team WNBA roster based on current performances and fan interest:

Backcourt
Caitlin Clark, Indiana Fever Caitlin Clark, the No. 1 overall pick, is having a historic rookie season with averages of 16.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, and six assists per game. Despite missing out on a Team USA spot, she is likely to be a fan favourite for the All-Star Game.

Rhyne Howard the Atlanta Dream All-Star in her first two seasons, continues to impress with 15.2 points, 4.9 rebounds, 3.7 assists, and 2.5 steals per game.

Marina Mabrey, Chicago Sky Mabrey is enjoying a breakout season, averaging 15.1 points, six rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game. Her performance makes her a strong candidate for her first All-Star appearance.

Kayla McBride: Minnesota Lynx McBride is having one of the best shooting seasons in history, averaging 17.8 points and 3.8 assists per game with remarkable shooting splits of 49.6/51.7/92.1.

Arike Ogunbowale, Dallas Wings Ogunbowale, a perennial All-Star, is second in the league in scoring with 26.4 points per game, along with 4.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists, and 3.2 steals.

Frontcourt
DeWanna Bonner, Connecticut Sun Bonner is averaging 18.4 points and 5.8 rebounds per game, contributing significantly to the Sun’s strong season. This would mark her sixth All-Star appearance.

Dearica Hamby, Los Angeles Sparks Hamby has been a standout player this season, averaging 20 points, 11.4 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game, and is a frontrunner for Most Improved Player.

Brionna Jones, Connecticut Sun Jones has returned strongly from injury, averaging 13.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game with an impressive shooting percentage of 59%.

Jonquel Jones, New York Liberty Jones, a key player for the Liberty, is averaging 15.5 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks per game, shooting a career-high 56.7% from the field.

Ezi Magbegor of the Seattle Storm is one of the league’s top defensive players, leading in blocks with three per game and also averaging 13.2 points.

Nneka Ogwumike: Seattle Storm Ogwumike has been stellar for the Storm, averaging 18.2 points and 7.7 rebounds per game and leading the league in field goal percentage.

Alanna Smith, Minnesota Lynx Smith has been a revelation for the Lynx, averaging 12.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.5 steals, and 1.9 blocks per game.

As fan voting begins, these projections highlight the impressive talent pool for the Team WNBA roster. The 2024 All-Star Game promises to be a thrilling event, showcasing some of the best players in the league as they face off against Team USA.

“But I Trust My Teammates”- Caitlin Clark Unveils the Story Behind Her Decision of Not Shooting More Late in Game Against the Sky
The Indiana Fever were confident about facing the Chicago Sky on Sunday as they were the more dominant side in their previous two meetings. However, the results didn’t go as per their expectations and a tiny part of the blame falls on Caitlin Clark.
The point guard who usually impresses basketball lovers with her phenomenal shooting skills might have disappointed some with her decision not to shoot in the crucial moments of the game. Following the 87-88 loss, Clark justified her action.
Addressing the matter in the post-game press conference, the 22-year-old stated, “I’m sure there was an opportunity or two for me to probably attempt another shot there at the end, but I trust my teammates… I’m gonna give them the ball every time.”
There was a particular instance in the final quarter when Clark seized a defensive rebound. She quickly ran with the ball to the other side of the court but, instead of aiming for the bucket, she looked around to pass the ball to her teammates. Clark found Kristy Wallace, but her shot stubbornly refused to hit the target.
That was not it. The ball was still with the Fever. However, the former Iowa guard passed it on to Aliyah Boston. Clark might not have won the game, but she surely won the hearts of her teammates.
Clark put up 17 points, 6 rebounds, 13 assists and 4 steals on the Indiana scoreboard, but it wasn’t enough to beat the Sky.
Her journey in the WNBA has been anything but smooth, with all the attention, criticism and altercations. One more added to the list with her recent injury.
Caitlin Clark Provides Injury Update
Prior to Sunday’s game, Caitlin Clark disclosed to the media the consequences she had to face while going up against tough opponents.
While speaking about welcome moment in the league, Clark said, “I actually ruptured my ear drum when we were in New York on a tough screen….great screens, I just didn’t hear them. So, it’s kind of my own fault.”
The rookie hinted at the clash against the NY Liberty earlier this month. During the final quarter of the game, Clark went up the court and hit straight into the screen set by Liberty’s Jonquel Jones.
She soon left for the locker room after picking up an ear injury and on returning Clark remained on the bench for the rest of the game. The game resulted in a 104-68 win for the home team.

Caitlin Clark has a cult-like following, and even though she's arguably not the best player in the WNBA, some pundits think her brand power could've been used to project the WNBA globally and make women's basketball more attractive to a global audience the same way the NBA is.
Despite a historic season setting new records in attendance and TV viewership never before seen in the history of the WNBA, all thanks to Caitlin Clark, the league is projected to record losses to the tune of $50 million. The Olympics Women's Basketball holds for only a couple of weeks once every four years, but the leagues that makes the sport more popular and valuable as a product revolve around the lives of everyday people like the players, team managers, officials, and the brands investing in them.
As Stephen A. Smith argued for the marketing side of the sport to be prioritized, women's basketball (and not just the WNBA) and the careers revolving around it has a rare opportunity in history to leverage on this window of opportunity, but it seems they'd rather watch that go down the drain with the seemingly dislike for Caitlin Clark.
On a final note, sports and money go together. Remove the lifeblood or make it insufficient and the core product suffers.
