FIRST IMPRESSIONS of our AI-assisted slush pile (3 days in):

The average quality per submission has significantly improved over the average pure-human submissions for past issues.

Specifically, the stories are more coherent. At a glance, I can tell which sentences lean too much on AI and should have been edited harder. But no one struggles to string sentences together anymore. The average "peaks" of best prose/story moments are better, stronger, and sometimes breathtaking.

For the first time, there is something useable and wonderful in every submission. I can still easily see what isn't ready for readers, but it's a strong step forward in the commercial viability of each individual piece. And it's a better slush reading experience than I've had in the past.

One thing has not changed: Average conceptual quality. AI-assisted or not, all writers are in charge of the final "camera angles", the reader's eye. Every millisecond of reader attention is in your hands. Authors who already mastered the skill of curating vast possibilities into meaningful moments have the ultimate edge.

Have something meaningful to say. Understand the depth of detail needed. Knowing how to "cut everything that is not the story" is still critical. Authors with this one skill will still dominate in this AI-assisted slush pile, as they have in the past. It's a rare skill. It's almost always the defining trait of stories we publish vs decline.

So interestingly enough, the raw "competitiveness" of each person's writing has not changed, IMO. The difference is that authors willing to bounce work off an AI now have stronger story skeletons to hang their heart's work on.

We all have weaknesses. And wherever you are weak, it gives the art a lift.

Hey friends! It's come to our attention that our Mythulu Creation Cards app has a serious payments bug. If you have attempted to purchase coins from our app and EVER received an error, please contact us for immediate support!

The bug is caused by security upgrades we issued about two months ago. It's compounded by software dependency upgrade requirements and payment library changes at both Apple and Google --- In short, it's a whopper bug.

Our programming team is working on the problem around the clock to address it. Meanwhile, we're correcting coin balances with a bonus. Please reach out and let us know if you are affected.
