October 31, 1517

Some dates should never be forgotten.

A few years after Martin Luther’s grasp of justification by faith, a man named John Tetzel in 1517 came preaching near Luther's town of Wittenberg (Germany) on the forgiveness of sins through the buying of indulgences. The idea is that Mary, the saints and the martyrs have merits that they didn’t need when on earth, and these merits are stored in a treasury called the “Treasury of Merits.”

The Roman Church believes this to this day and still offers indulgences. The Church gives it to whoever it wills. At that time, they were selling indulgences to raise money for re-building St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome—the one we see today, if you go visit there.

Tetzel was one of many who were commissioned to travel from town to town preaching the forgiveness of sin through the sale of indulgences. Indulgences could remove time off purgatory not only for the buyer but for deceased relatives in purgatory. Tetzel was allowed to keep a percentage of the proceeds, and he was a salesman with no shame.

It was said Tetzel would hold his hand over a flame and say things like, “you singe your finger, you suffer the whole night----think about your poor relatives... burning... constantly.... Your pooooooor grandmother in torment. You can do something about it--you can help your poor gramma--just one little coin, and you can get her out!” And famously, “As soon as a coin in the coffer rings the soul from purgatory springs.”

Think Robert Preston, in the Music Man--if you've ever seen that movie--hands gesturing, finger pointing--his words drawn out for emotional impact, crowds weeping and moaning--a real theatrical display. It was great drama and devastatingly successful. People flocked to these hawkers and gave in droves out of their riches or out of their poverty.

Not looking to do anything other than to discuss with his fellow scholars concerning this issue and thinking no more than that, Luther did what academians did in that day--he posted his 95 theses (in Latin) concerning this issue on the Wittenberg church door. He wasn’t looking for his views to be spread, certainly not a Reformation—just a discussion.

However, the public got a hold of the document. No one ever dared say anything even remotely against the Catholic Church—such a scandal! It was translated in German and mass produced—within four weeks it was all over Europe! It was "like a flash of lightening," as one historian put it.
You see, without this new technology called the printing press—one of the greatest inventions of modern times, no one probably would have known about Luther or these theses. But this brand-new technology allowed for broad dissemination.

Based on his understanding of justification by faith, Luther had to respond. Historian Philip Schaff said, “Luther had experienced the remission of sin as a free gift of grace to be apprehended by a living faith. This experience was diametrically opposed to a system of relief by means of payments in money…. As a preacher, a pastor, and a professor, he felt it to be his duty to protest against such measures: to be silent was to betray his theology and his conscience.”

Historian Diarmaid MacCulloch said it was the heavy-handed response of the Church that drove a simple protest into a rebellion. Luther, MacCulloch said, “wanted to talk about grace; his opponents wanted to talk authority…which escalated into the division of Europe.” And the world moved from the medieval to the modern age.

On this date, the world changed.

Daniel 9:24-27 1599 Geneva Bible

24 Seventy [s]weeks are determined upon [t]thy people and upon thine holy city, to finish the wickedness, and to seal up [u]the sins, and to reconcile the iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.

25 Know therefore and understand that from [v]the going forth of the commandment to bring again the people, and to build Jerusalem, unto Messiah the Prince, shall be seven [w]weeks and [x]threescore and two weeks, and the street shall be built again, and the wall even in a [y]troublous time.

26 And after threescore and two [z]weeks, shall Messiah be slain, and shall [aa]have nothing, and the people of the [ab]prince that shall come, shall destroy the city and the Sanctuary, and the end thereof shall be with a flood: and unto the end of the battle it shall be destroyed by desolations.

27 And he [ac]shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to [ad]cease, [ae]and for the overspreading of the abominations, he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

s Daniel 9:24 He alludeth to Jeremiah’s prophecy: who prophesied that their captivity should be seventy years: but now God’s mercy should sevenfold exceed his judgment, which should be four hundred and ninety years, even to the coming of Christ, and so then it should continue forever.
t Daniel 9:24 Meaning, Daniel’s nation, over whom he was careful.
u Daniel 9:24 To show mercy and to put sin out of remembrance.
v Daniel 9:25 That is, from the time that Cyrus gave them leave to depart.
w Daniel 9:25 These weeks make forty-nine years, whereof 46 are referred to the time of the building of the Temple, and three to the laying of the foundation.
x Daniel 9:25 Counting from the sixth year of Darius, who gave the second commandment for the building of the Temple are 62 weeks, which make 434 years, which comprehend the time from the building of the Temple unto the baptism of Christ.
y Daniel 9:25 Hebrew, in straits of time.
z Daniel 9:26 In this least week of the seventy, shall Christ come and preach and suffer death.
aa Daniel 9:26 He shall seem to have no beauty, nor to be of any estimation, as Isa. 53:2.
ab Daniel 9:26 Meaning Titus, Vespasian’s son, who should come and destroy both the Temple and the people without all hope of recovery.
ac Daniel 9:27 By the preaching of the Gospel he confirmed his promise, first to the Jews, and after to the Gentiles.
ad Daniel 9:27 Christ accomplished this by his death and resurrection.
ae Daniel 9:27 Meaning, that Jerusalem and the Sanctuary should be utterly destroyed for their rebellion against God, and their idolatry: or as some read, that the plague shall be so great, that they shall be all astonied at them.

This 70th week of Daniel Bible study focuses on how Messiah fulfilled all that was purposed in Daniel 9:24 The reason this is so important is that many Pastors teach that because the Jews didn& #821…

Nov 16, 2015: Ralph Baric, an infectious-disease researcher at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, last week (November 9, 2015) published a study on his team’s efforts to engineer a virus with the surface protein of the SHC014 coronavirus, found in horseshoe bats in China, and the backbone of to one that causes human-like severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) in mice. The hybrid virus could infect human airway cells and caused disease in mice, according to the team’s results, which were published in Nature Medicine.

The results demonstrate the ability of the SHC014 surface protein to bind and infect human cells, validating concerns that this virus—or other coronaviruses found in bat species—may be capable of making the leap to people without first evolving in an intermediate host, Nature reported. https://www.the-scientist.com/news-opinion/lab-made-coronavirus-triggers-debate-34502

They also reignite a debate about whether that information justifies the risk of such work, known as gain-of-function research. “If the [new] virus escaped, nobody could predict the trajectory,” Simon Wain-Hobson, a virologist at the Pasteur Institute in Paris, told Nature.

In October 2013, the US government put a stop to all federal funding for gain-of-function studies, with particular concern rising about influenza, SARS, and Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS). “NIH [National Institutes of Health] has funded such studies because they help define the fundamental nature of human-pathogen interactions, enable the assessment of the pandemic potential of emerging infectious agents, and inform public health and preparedness efforts,” NIH Director Francis Collins said in a statement at the time. “These studies, however, also entail biosafety and biosecurity risks, which need to be understood better.”

Baric’s study on the SHC014-chimeric coronavirus began before the moratorium was announced, and the NIH allowed it to proceed during a review process, which eventually led to the conclusion that the work did not fall under the new restrictions, Baric told Nature. But some researchers, like Wain-Hobson, disagree with that decision.

The debate comes down to how informative the results are. “The only impact of this work is the creation, in a lab, of a new, non-natural risk,” Richard Ebright, a molecular biologist and biodefence expert at Rutgers University, told Nature.

But Baric and others argued the study’s importance. “[The results] move this virus from a candidate emerging pathogen to a clear and present danger,” Peter Daszak, president of the EcoHealth Alliance, which samples viruses from animals and people in emerging-diseases hotspots across the globe, told Nature.

In this interview, the Author of the US Biowarfare Act, Professor Francis Boyle uncovers four separate studies which he claims confirm as ‘smoking gun’ evidence the Wuhan Coronavirus known as COVID19 was in fact weaponized.

Professor Boyle also discloses where he believes the true origin of the virus originated and the extent that the US government was involved.

This is a must see interview as Professor Boyle also reveals never before disclosed information.

The Court Case That Could Finally Take Down Antiquated Anti-Catholic Laws
Thirty-seven states still have Blaine Amendments on the books. The Supreme Court now has a chance to get rid of them for good.

Blaine Amendments weren’t truly devoted to the separation of Church and state. Instead, they were mainly focused on separating the Catholic Church and state. Although public schools are largely secular today, that wasn’t the case in the 19th century. Public or “common” schools typically instilled in their students a nondenominational form of Protestantism, requiring them to sing hymns, pray, and read from the King James Bible—in direct conflict with Catholic dogma.

Blaine’s amendment was never enacted nationwide, Congress later required many potential states to adopt a version of the amendment in order to be admitted to the union. President Ulysses S. Grant called for a federal ban on government funding for “sectarian schools” in order to “keep the Church and state forever separate.”
