Having survived a deadly pandemic followed by a brutal WGA strike, I decided to take matters into my own hands and channel my creative energies into a new project. The result is Trumpery, a one-act play about short-fingered vulgarian & least-favorite former president Donald J. Trump. One night while I was out on a walk, it suddenly occurred to me: The time to produce this play is NOW!
So, I called up some friends and, long story short, we’re mounting the show at Hollywood Fringe in June! This is my second time at Fringe, having also co-written Meet & Greet – the breakout hit of Hollywood Fringe 2014 that segued immediately into a 4-month Los Angeles run.
I would love for you to come see the play, and also, I would be extra-grateful for ANY help sharing & promoting the show on social media. We’ve also just launched a Kickstarter campaign for anyone who might be interested in chipping in a few bucks to help us cover rehearsal space, fringe fest registration, costumes, and orange foundation in color #274, Yam-Casserole Dreams. ABOUT THE PLAY:
In this outrageous one-act satire, ex-President Donald has commandeered his 2nd-favorite daughter’s yacht to flee prosecution, along with Melania, Ivanka, Tiffany, Jared Kushner & a surprise stowaway. An after-dinner game of Two Truths & A Lie tests loyalties, inflames rivalries, and reveals scandalous, long-buried secrets as titillating as they are horrific!
Trumpery premieres at the Actors Company theater in WeHo as part of the Hollywood Fringe Festival in June. Tickets for all 7 performances are on sale at the Fringe site, including our preview June 8 (with a $5 discount). I’m very happy to tape off seats… or provide comps if need be.
