This autumn we will evidence a science-fiction movie Geostorm. So are there any scientific basis for weather regulating systems?
Efforts to tame the nature aren't new. It’s almost 70 years since US scientists started to seed clouds with tiny particles to stimulate precipitation. This technique has been used in the State of California for more than 50 years.
There were new experiments in 2010 at Geneva University, Switzerland, and the scientists propose a new method to summon clouds. The researcher says that tests, which were held in a laboratory under fully controlled conditions, show that the technology helps to generate tiny “seeds” around which ice or raindrops can grow. The technology basis for a work of a laser which strips electrons from the atoms in the air, forming positively charged particles. Another way to user laser shooting -is to fire beams into thunderclouds.
This will help to hold open airports and prevent flight delays during big storms. And though this experiment failed, another one succeed at least in a laboratory. The team has managed to drive the artificial lightning down the controlled way.
So the experiments keep going and indeed in some not so distant future, we may see the birth of a system which will manipulate weather and climate
