BAWAL NA ANG ‘WANGWANG’ SA KALSADA

HINDI maitatatwa na ang malawakang paggamit ng ‘wangwang’ sa Pilipinas ay isang isyu na matagal nang nakikita ng marami bilang larawan ng talamak na pang-aabuso at hindi pantay na pagtrato sa mga kalsada.

Sa paglipas ng panahon, ang ‘wangwang’ ay naging simbolo ng kapangyarihan at pribilehiyo, na kadalasang ginagamit ng ilang nasa gobyerno o may katungkulan upang ipagmayabang ang kanilang kapangyarihan sa publiko at sa kapwa motorista.

Kaya sa kasalukuyang kalagayan ng ating bansa, ito ay patuloy na nagdudulot ng abala, kalituhan, at panganib sa pampublikong kalsada.

Ang mga sirena (wangwang), blinkers, at iba pang kahalintulad na devices ay karaniwang ginagamit hindi lamang ng mga opisyal ng gobyerno kundi pati na rin ng ilang mga pribadong indibidwal na nagpapakita ng kanilang koneksyon o impluwensya sa lipunan.

Sinasabing kasi na sa pamamagitan ng paggamit ng ‘wangwang’, ang ilang tao ay nagpapakita ng kanilang pagmamalabis at hindi paggalang sa karapatan at kaligtasan ng iba. Ito ay nagreresulta sa hindi pantay na pagtrato sa publiko, kung saan ang ilan ay tinatangi at pinapaboran habang ang iba naman ay napag-iiwanan at nabibigatan sa abala at panganib na dulot ng mga abusadong gumagamit ng mga kalsada.

Sa gitna ng patuloy na paglaganap ng kulturang ito, napapanahon ang inilabas na direktiba ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. na may kinalaman dito.

Naglabas kasi si PBBM ng Administrative Order (AO) No. 18 na nagbabawal sa mga opisyal at kawani ng gobyerno na gumamit ng sirena, blinkers, at iba pang devices upang mapanatili ang kaayusan at kaligtasan sa kalsada.

Sa pamamagitan ng pagpapatupad ng regulasyon na ito, ang pamahalaang Marcos ay tunay na nagpapakita ng determinasyon na mapanatili ang disiplina at kaayusan sa mga lansangan.

Mahalaga rin na binibigyang-diin ng kautusan na ang paggamit ng mga kagamitang ito ay dapat lamang sa mga sitwasyon ng kagyat na pangangailangan o emergency.

Higit sa lahat, ang pagpapatupad ng AO 18 ay nagpapakita ng patuloy na pagtugon ng pamahalaan sa mga pangangailangan at hamon ng lipunan. Ito ay isang patunay ng determinasyon ni Pangulong Marcos na maging bahagi ng solusyon sa mga suliraning kinakaharap ng ating bansa.

Sa pamamagitan naman ng pagsasanib-pwersa ng pamahalaan at mamamayan, maaari nating marating ang isang lipunan kung saan ang paggalang, disiplina, at kaayusan ay nangingibabaw sa mga kalsada, at ang lahat ay pantay-pantay na nagbibigay-pansin sa kapakanan ng isa't isa.
