I've been working very hard on this latest mix over the past few months; stepping things up with a hybrid DJ set that includes grooves, percussion, effects and other cool sounds i've created in Ableton, which is synced with Traktor to go along with some of the best in raw, hypnotic and deep techno.

Another spin around the sun! Work gives us our birthday off so I’m gonna spend the next waking hours taking it sofa king easy in my new socks. Good food, yoga, Ableton 12, cake and maybe some TP for my bu****le if I’m lucky.

Productive day today! I took my custom standup desk and turned it into a custom standup workstation and studio!

I’ve had this s**tty ikea record shelf for like 20 years. During covid i upgraded it to a standup desk with a price of plywood.

I went to Home Depot today and got a nice piece of sexy Maple Plywood and a broken down church pew from my mom’s garage, sanded and stained it - something I’ve never done!

Found a neat hinge system and braces and gave it a table leaf for when i need more room for a recording or to produce a few feet back from the monitors. Stress tested for weight, pretty solid!

Having tons of fun with and together. I’m building a session view project in Ableton that i can use to compliment my DJ sets. I can program my own drum racks, audio tracks for samples and customize my own send/return effects. As mentioned in my previous post, the Novation Launch Control gives me 8 channels to work with.

When i borrow Jays PX5 i can also have separate custom effect channels from Ableton into any individual channel as well. The sky is the limit. I hope to have the next set up on YouTube using this setup.

Won some money at the casino, bought a new controller with some of it 😎

The goal is to incorporate Ableton Live with Traktor for a hybrid DJ set. It will replace my other Native Instruments F1 sampler controller. The Novation Launch Control gives me 8 channels with 2 sends so i can add loops and effects triggered by my Push 2.

It’ll be a while before i use this at a gig as i figure out how i want to use it. But you’ll see my progression with it on my YouTube channel over the next few months.

I’m always looking to improve and experiment with new ways to DJ, this is gonna be a fun adventure.

Another wonderful year attending .ab (formally Inshala) festival with the family. It was great hanging with everyone, dancing, doing yoga, relaxing at the beach and of course, playing techno.

Playing on meticulously crafted sound system is always such a treat, it sounded even better this year. It’s like listening to music with an amazing set of headphones on, but at the same time you can have a conversation on the dance floor and hear every word the person is saying.

I really had so much fun performing, thank you to all the techno heads who went on that ride with me. I’ve already listened to the recording and it has my stamp of approval, so watch for it soon.

Bonlando - Live at the Cube Winnipeg

This was an incredible gig and was recorded downtown Winnipeg at "The Cube" on Saturday June 8th, 2024 for the long running MEMETIC festival.

I have been playing techno since 1999, and I put many of my favourite tracks from the past 25 years into my crate and this is the result.

This 4 channel DJ set using Traktor Pro 4 is perfect for techno purists, and won't scare away the casual techno listener as this gig was on a multi-genre stage. It is a very "Carl Cox" inspired set.
