In addition to RINGO, JIM McCARTNEY, Paul's Dad was born on this day in 1902. As a tribute to his Dad, Paul recorded this song that Jim wrote in Nashville with WINGS under the pseudonym THE COUNTRY HAMS, with special guest musicians CHET ATKINS and FLOYD CRAMER. A really nice instrumental! Happy birthday JIm!!!

Just want to send a big THANK YOU to everyone for their birthday wishes! I can't believe I received so many birthday messages, and it means so much to me to be appreciated like this. Thanks for all the BEATLES photos and the avatars of yourselves (so clever how they could do that!) I'm trying to write back to all of you!!!

I enjoyed my birthday weekend by seeing ROGER DALTREY in concert at Tanglewood with the family. While I've only been to one WHO concert, this was my first time seing him solo, and it was everything I hoped it would be--a good balance of WHO songs and his solo-material, plus tributes to JOHN FOGERTY (his favorite rock singer) and PAUL SIMON (what a surprise--he did "Boy In The Bubble"!) He also thanked Paul, who apparently gave an interview to a radio station in Detroit in 1966 requesting a WHO song, which gave them early exposure in a big market here. Best of all, Roger's voice was as strong as ever for a 2-hour concert! He really works at it, and he was in great spirits. Couldn't have asked for a better show, and would definitely recommend seeing him. He's 80, and he's still got it! (I might be sending a few photos of the concert soon!)

I haven't come back to earth yet after this weekend, but thanks to all of you for making it all so special and memorable!

On PAUL McCARTNEY's birthday, just finished recording a show inviting DARYL EASLEA (Editor, Record Collector) and freelance music journalist EOGHAN LYNG for my new feature "THE DEEPER YOU GO," inviting my guests to pick 10 DEEP TRACKS (No Hits) from either THE BEATLES, or one of them from their solo-careers.

As Daryl and Eoghan worked on the recent RECORD COLLECTOR ALL SOLO-McCARTNEY ISSUE (January 2024) they both wanted to pick 10 DEEP McCARTNEY TRACKS that are favorites of theirs!
