Bilang paggunita sa Buwan ng Wika at Kasaysayan, ngayong araw, ating alalahanin ang kamatayan ni Benigno “Ninoy” Simeon Aquino Jr. noong Agosto 21, 1983 sa Manila International Airport (MIA) na kalauna’y pinangalanang Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) bilang tanda sa kaniyang sakripisyo at dedikasyon upang itanim muli ang kalayaan para sa Pilipinas. Itinalaga ito bilang isang ‘Non-working Holiday’ na iniusod ng Pangulong Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. sa Agosto 23, Biyernes.

Maaalalang ang pagkamatay ni Ninoy Aquino ang nagpasimula sa yugto ng rebolusyon ng mga Pilipino laban sa dating Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Sr. na siyang pinanghugutan ng mamamayan upang ipaglaban ang kanilang karapatan sa kalayaan at kapayapaan na ipinagkait sa panahon ng Batas Militar. Ang kaniyang pagsalungat sa mga mata ng gobyerno ang naging sanhi upang siya’y ipakulong at paalisin sa pwesto bilang senador.

Ang paglingkis sa katotohanan na kaniyang ibinahagi sa mga Pilipino ang naging papel upang maganap ang EDSA People Power Revolution na siyang nagpatalsik kay dating Pangulong Marcos Sr. matapos ang mahigit 20 taong pamumuno nito.

Ang pagdiriwang natin ng Buwan ng Wika at Kasaysayan na may temang “Filipino: Wikang Mapagpalaya” ang siyang magiging tulay upang isalin ang pamamaraan at kasaysayan ng mga Pilipino na gamitin ang sariling wika upang pangalagaan ang kasarinlan sa pamamagitan ng pagkakaisa at pagsasama-sama.

Kaya bilang isang Josenian, nawa’y isabuhay ang kaalaman, pagmamahal at pag-asa upang ito’y pumukaw at maging aral sa mga kapwa Pilipino, kaya ating gamiting ang wikang Filipino upang maging malaya at makapagpalaya lagi’t lagi para sa Inang Bayan.

Ngayong araw, ginugunita natin ang ika-146 na kaarawan ng ating ikalawang Pangulo ng Republika ng Pilipinas, si Manuel Luis Quezon y Molina o mas kilala bilang Manuel L. Quezon, at ang kaniyang mga kontribusyon sa bansa. Siya rin ay tinagurian bilang "Ama ng Wikang Pambansa" dahil sa kaniyang makasaysayang hangarin na magkaroon tayo ng sariling pagkakakilanlan sa pamamagitan ng isang Wikang Pambansa.

Ang kaniyang pagpupunyagi para sa sambayanang Pilipino at ang kaniyang mga layunin sa paghubog ng ating kinabukasan ang nagbigay-daan sa kalayaang tinatamasa natin sa kasalukuyan. Kaya naman, maraming lugar ang ipinangalan sa kaniya at matatagpuan rin siya sa 20 pisong papel bilang pag-alala sa kaniyang mga aral.

Kasabay ng pagdiriwang natin ng kaniyang mga naiwang leksiyon, magbalik-tanaw tayo sa kaniyang mga adhikain para sa pagkakaisa, pagkakapantay-pantay at suporta, at isapuso ang pagpapamalas ng mga prinsipyong ito sa ating mga kilos at gawain tungo sa mas magandang kinabukasan para sa sambayanan.

Josenian student officers, teachers, and personnel joined the Mass of the Holy Spirit held by the Kalookan Diocese Schools Association at the San Roque Cathedral Parish, Caloocan City, this morning of August 13, Tuesday.

The mass was led by Bishop Pablo Virgilio David, along with Rev. Fr. Rufino Yabut and Rev. Fr. Jeronimo J. Cruz, in recollecting student representatives from each school to bless the upcoming KADSA opening for this School year 2024-2025. The said mass accommodated selected students from San Jose Academy, St. James Academy, St. Gabriel Academy, Immaculate Conception Academy-Malabon, La Consolacion College-Caloocan, De La Salle University-Araneta, Notre Dame of Greater Manila, and St. Mary’s Academy of Caloocan City under the KADSA.

Now in its 16th year, the Josenian Tribune releases its new Editorial Board for the school year 2024-2025, with Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) student Jullia Pauleey Perez as editor-in-chief.

Perez bested 27 of her co-staffers during the editorial examination and interview held between August 7-9, with school paper advisers Ms. Shane Rachel del Rosario and Mr. Charles Alison Rivera leading and overseeing the selection process.

She will be joined by Loreyn Basa and Clyden Sara de Dios as Associate Editors.

TINGNAN: Nakiisa ang mga Josenians sa pagbubukas ng Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa at Kasaysayan na may temang “Filipino: Salaysay ng Bayan, Saysay ng Bansa Gamit ang Wikang Mapagpalaya” nitong Biyernes, Agosto 9.

Ayon kay Gng. Annie Velasco, tagapag-ugnay ng Kagawaran ng Araling Panlipunan, napakahalagang kasangkapan umano ang wikang Filipino sa pagkamit ng kalayaan, dahil ang wika, aniya, ang “humuhubog sa ating identidad bilang mga Pilipino”.

Samantala, ipinamalas ng Spotlight Club ang talento sa pagsasayaw sa pamamagitan ng isang kontemporaryong sayaw.

Sinabi ni G. Dhan Carlo Arulfo, g**o sa Araling Panlipunan at Club Moderator ng Spotlight, na ang naging pagtatanghal ay perspektibo umano ng isang tipikal na Pilipinong mangingisda sa gitna ng mga isyung kinahaharap ng bansa.

“Nagbigay-diin kami sa kaisipan na ang karaniwang Pilipino ang palaging biktima ng mga isyung panlipunan," aniya.

Para naman kay Bb. Janella Deither Dela Cruz, team leader ng Kagawaran ng Filipino, ang wika umano ang siyang patuloy na nagsisilbing sandata ng mga Pilipino laban sa pang-aapi, katiwalian, at kawalan ng hustisya.

“Hangad naming magamit ng lahat ng Josenian ang wikang Filipino sa paghahayag ng inyong damdamin at kaisipang nauukol sa kalayaan,” pagtatapos nito.

Naghanda ng iba't ibang mga gawain at patimpalak ang mga g**o sa nasabing kagawaran kaugnay ng buwanang selebrasyon. Para sa iba pang mga detalye at impormasyon, maaring makipag-ugnayan sa inyong mga g**o sa Filipino at Araling Panlipunan.

UPDATED | The recent typhoon caused severe flooding that destroyed many houses and disrupted every individual's way of living, and some members of the Josenian community are part of those affected.

TINGNAN | Pinasok na ng baha ang ilang mga bahay sa Navotas City bunsod ng high tide at malakas na pag-ulan na hatid ng Bagyong .

Bunsod ng patuloy na pagtaas ng lebel ng tubig, nananawagan na rin sa mga lokal na opisyal ang ilang mga residente, partikular na sa Bacog, Daanghari, na palikasin na ang mga pamilya para sa kanilang kaligtasan.

Samantala, kaugnay ng masamang lagay ng panahon, sinuspinde ng lokal na pamahalaan ang klase sa lahat ng antas ngayong araw, July 23.

Matatandaang noong June 25, ibinalita rin ang pagkasira ng Malabon-Navotas river floodgates dahil sa pagsadsad ng isang barge.

Matthew Vincent Tabilog of Mangrove Matters PH was interviewed by the Josenian Tribune, the student-community publication of San Jose Academy, for an article on the proper planting of Mangroves.

The Science and Technology page of the newspaper wherein the story was included, qualified in the School Paper Contests of the National Schools Press Conference 2024 in Carcar City, Cebu, thus helping to amplify the calls for mangrove conservation.

Josenians are reaching new heights in the KADSA Sports Coopetition Meet hosted by San Jose Academy, as they once again displayed their exceptional achievements and skills after bagging several awards from various sports categories.

These victors boosted another dimension to SnJA's pride by showcasing their flawless skills and unbreakable spirit, proving that everything is achievable with tenacity and resolve.

The 19th season of the KADSA Sports Coopetition meet came to an end on April 16 during the closing ceremony held at the SnJa court. Schools from ICAM, DLSAU, SGA, SJA, and SNJA blew out the torch during the ceremony.
