Have you ever noticed when grieving for a friend, that when you reflect upon that friendship, you start to see all the red flags that you were blind to before? It leaves you feeling hopeless, full of self doubt. If I can trust this person, what else am I being blindsided about? When you’ve been through the kind of trauma I have, you both hope that people are honest and who they claim fo be, and you hope that they not the next monster in your life....

When I moved to Edmonton back in 2021, all I knew at that time was that God was calling me here. I felt it in my heart and my soul that Edmonton was the place He wanted me to be, and that it was meant to be my home. A big thing that stood out to me this week is how often people don’t respect themselves or others with kindness. We get into each other’s faces, get heated over small matters, and either push against or collapse under the pressure that is created. Or we start being critical of ourselves, doubting who we are and what we can do, and start being hard on ourselves in the face of failure or hardship....

Panic attacks and work got in the way of regular church attendance, and I just got out of the habit of going and made excuses when I could. I never stopped attending the temple regularly, even if it was less frequent, which is something I am quite proud of....
