Happy 2025 everyone! There are some upcoming changes to Wasteland Press in the next month. We are eliminating the Basic Publishing Plan due to the plan no longer being economically viable and offering a free publishing service in its stead. However, there is a caveat... Wasteland Press will not be accepting any book to publish, since this is no longer a self-publishing service, but rather funded by us. We have three publishing imprints we will be accepting these manuscripts: Winterlight Books (All genres, except religion/Christian books), Christian Insight Publications (Religion/Christian books), and Color World Publications (low content books like coloring books and graphic novels). We will have strict standards when it comes to acceptance where genre, uniqueness, and viability will all be taken into consideration with approval of your book using this process. If you still wish to go the self-publishing route, we will still be offering the Gold, Platinum and Ultimate Publishing plans available to self-publish your book. Additionally, we will be offering an assisted services publishing (ASP) plan for those of you who would like to go directly to a printer/distributor yourself. This plan will be a turn-key plan, where we essentially offer all services we do with self-publishing your book, etc. but will be published under your individual account with a printer/distributor. We will even help you with creating an account and any technical aspects, including the upload of your book to the specifications of the printer/distributor to get the book up for sale on third party retailers like amazon.com.

Lastly--for our loyal authors--who might read this and be a little worried about this change. Wasteland Press will always be grateful for your loyalty over the past 25 years! If you have used the Basic Plan in the past to publish with us, we will keep offering this plan to you for the foreseeable future! All you will need to do is contact us directly that you would like to publish under the Basic Plan and we will send you the necessary information, paperwork, and payment request to get started. PLEASE NOTE: this offer only applies to our legacy authors who have published using Wasteland Press and its imprints. If you used a third-party imprint when publishing with us, then this offer will not be extended to you.

Sometimes, I take real joy in designing covers and this one was a lot of fun. Even though it is a simple headshot, the picture presented some difficulties that others might not think of. First there is the standard uniform with the team's name on it. Not so much a copyright issue, but serves more of a distraction for the title and author name you would normally have on a paperback cover. Two, and most importantly is the darkening of photos over time. I learned this from my mentor Merl Kast, who passed away in 2006, and the role acid can play in damaging paper/photos. As time goes by, the hues darken and the clarity of the photo is diminished.

Paired with my love of LIFE Magazines from the period, I think the cover is fitting tribute. As a corollary, a slight white inner bevel can be found as well on the title, which is also a nod to 1940s and 50s baseball cards.

Hi everyone. We have been making some changes to the website and such and looking to do a redesign in the not too distant future. However, I wanted to bring some things to your attention:

1) We have eliminated eBook only plans entirely. We still offer eBooks with our print plans, but we are no longer servicing eBook only plans (no printed book). We will do this for our legacy titles, but will not be having this service for future titles.

2) We have eliminated online chat for our website. It seems that no one is using this service like in the past. So, we are now communicating via text, talk or e-mail. This one is a little counterintuitive to me, but it seems people are almost exclusively communicating via text, talk or e-mail. I feel that chat is a better medium than text, but a lot of people are not comfortable chatting using a mobile device.

3) We are looking to offer a services only package. These will be for individual authors who want to set-up an account with companies like KDP or Ingram Spark. We offer design and formatting services (and even help you set-up an account with them) and make sure everything is compliant to their standards. These services will have a fixed cost and will also reduce hardships for authors who want to do it on their own.
