On this day, some people and pilots boarded their flights, some went to work at the World Trade Center, hundreds of NYFD firefighters on shift, NYPD police officers on morning patrol, paramedics on morning shifts to save lives, those working at the Pentagon's West Wing...None of the 2,977 made it to 11:00a.m. or home to their loved ones that horrific fateful day of terror. We must never forgot those precious lives taken & the bravery of those who assisted.

Our Roseville Police & Fire Personnel were honored & inspired by retired Colonel Merryl Tengesdal as she shared her journey of going to the stratosphere as the first and only Black woman to fly the U.S.Air Force’s U-2 spy plane used for specialized high-altitude reconnaissance missions. She shared the importance of mentoring & those who mentored, challenged & encouraged her along the way. Around us are opportunities to inspire especially the next generation. Shatter the Sky is the name of her book.

Thank you Chief Bartee for your outstanding service to Roseville and to the people of Maui.

Roseville Fire Chief Rick Bartee deployed to Maui on August 10 as the Incident Support Team Leader of the FEMA Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) Task Force.

Today, Chief Bartee briefed President Joe Biden on the search progress for victims of the devastating wildfires. Currently, the team is utilizing 40 specialized search K9’s and 400 FEMA USAR specialists.

We are proud of Chief Bartee and the leadership he brings to the Task Force as they work tirelessly to help the community of Maui. We continue to keep the Maui community who has been affected by this tragedy in our thoughts.

Everyone has a unique story & what a pleasure for our media crew to hear Henry Winkler share his life's journey.

Best known for his 1970's sitcom role as "The Fonz" he struggled with dyslexia which resulted in embarrassing table readings for the cast. He is known as one of Hollywood's nicest stars.
