This week, we visited a new coffee shop to Ann Arbor, Hyperion Coffee Co. The menu was very limited, but the service and experience was great. The pricing was fairly good for the sizing. The seating is limited and the cafe was pretty quiet, making it a great place to study. Overall, we recommend trying out this new coffee shop!

Classically delicious, Ding Tea is a reliable bubble tea location where you can always find an option you’ll enjoy.
Located downtown within a minute-long walk of two other Ann Arbor boba shops, Ding Tea is right by the Diag and conveniently on Michigan’s campus. In addition to a great location, their menu is expansive and their interior is decorated beautifully.
Their drinks are refreshing, well-sweetened and fruity. Ding Tea is nothing particularly special, but it is a great option for Ann Arbor bubble tea that is the definition of stand-up boba.

Today we visited one of our new favorite locations. M36 Coffee Roasters is a spacious and popular spot on central campus. It’s the perfect place to meet up with friends to study.
M36 has a wide variety of coffee drinks, add-in flavors and non-dairy milks—which are a plus for us. The menu also included toasts, grilled sandwiches and a case of baked goods. The workers were helpful and our drinks came out really quick. Although the menu was a little bit on the pricey side, the sizes were good.

With our lowest rating thus far, UniTea has nothing to boast in tea flavor, boba quality or menu selection, and epically failed to meet our expectations.
UniTea’s appearance will enhance your Instagram— the shop is decorated in a fun color scheme of yellow, black and white, and boasts drinks that are colorful and enticing. But contrary to UniTea’s decor, their issues become apparent from the first sip of boba. UniTea’s tapioca is gummy and overcooked, their tea is served lukewarm with little ice and their avocado slush is tasteless. Additionally, their employees were silent and uninviting, and did not make the atmosphere feel welcoming.
UniTea’s aesthetic is unable to save the fact that their drinks are poorly made, and their high pricing is not worth the quality they provide. Any customer will be able to find several better boba shops in the Ann Arbor area.
UniTea rating: 3/10

Maia Genisio, a freshman currently attending Community High School, uses all different types of mediums to express her characters and thoughts through illustration. For this piece, Genisio decided to use Procreate to draw and animate digitally.
“Drawing it out is the best way I can visualize it out in my mind,” Genisio said.
The creative process of Genisio’s work continues to flourish as they describe the plot of the book they’re creating, and how their artistic skills tie into helping lift the story into its full form. Viktor’s story, (the king featured in this piece), is incredibly important to them, as well as the story he’s a part of. The way that their story is shown to their audience and the world is something that is essential to keep in mind. Genisio aims to make the story uniquely interesting while remaining realistic.
“I want to portray it in a way that…is different and very captivating but also [still] realistic,” Genisio said. “And…you could almost see it in everyday life. That's what I want to do with this world building I've done.”
Someday, Genisio hopes to publish this story. What Genisio stresses is most important to creativity and imagination — to always have fun.

Le Bon Macaron is a family-owned French bakery and cafe located on Fourth Ave.
Le Bon Macaron has staple coffee drinks and special teas. It is the perfect place to stop for some Valentine’s Day treats. Inside, the cafe has comfortable seating and the interior decor is elegant and resembles a modern French bakery.
The menu is a little bit on the pricey side but the experience is well worth it.
Le Bon Macaron rating: 8/10

Edition 2 of The Communicator has been distributed! Pick up your copies in room 300 if you don’t have one yet. If you flipped to the back page of the magazine, you might have found a game page. Senior John Reed designed a game called “He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not.” If you are interested in learning how to play this game, watch this video for an example!
Important note: the Number Two flower should have nine petals instead of eight. Draw in an additional petal!
