Envy – the venerable Japanese underground institution that has inspired multiple sub-genres in the past three decades – returns with their 8th full-length album, Eunoia, out October 11! Pre-order Eunoia today and hear the first single; the anthemic, swirling "Beyond the Raindrops”. It represents one of the boldest and bravest creative shifts in envy Official’s songwriting in the past 15+ years. Anchored by a shoegaze-influenced backdrop, it features vocalist Tetsu Fukagawa’s most melodic and pop-oriented singing to ever appear in an envy song. As Fukagawa explains: “This was a new challenge for me. I wrote the lyrics with a focus on sounds that fit the melody, rather than the meaning of the words. I think it ultimately gave envy a fresh impression.” Originally a song that almost didn’t make it past the demo stage, “Beyond the Raindrops” now clearly stands as one of the strongest songs on a new album absolutely packed with standouts.
Eunoia is available for pre-order on CD, LP, Digital, and limited edition Warm Grey colored vinyl!

Our very own June McDoom tells her story and how she got here in the critically-acclaimed video series, “Song That Found Me At The Right Time”, made by @soundsofsaving – a non-profit mental health organization – in partnership with @988lifeline . This one features June McDoom taking on the classic Judee Sill song, “Emerald River Dance”.
SoS sat down with the singer/songwriter to discuss her mental health journey and specifically what Judee Sill’s song “Emerald River Dance” has meant to her. In keeping with the series, McDoom and collaborator Evan Wright also performed the song exclusively for Sounds of Saving.
This was filmed this past spring at Brooklyn’s Prospect Park. Watch their performance, which appropriately feels like a collaboration with nature itself—birds singing, leaves rustling and nylon strings plucking.

June McDOom's debut single, “The City,” is out today! You can now hear the single on your favorite streaming services, or continue watching the gorgeous video here: https://lnk.to/JuneMcDoom
“‘The City’ was a song I wrote during college at a time when I was having a lot of realizations about who I was and how much all the family and friendships of my life had shaped me. I was thinking a lot about my ancestry, the strong matriarchs of my family, and the impact and courage it took for my entire extended family to uproot from Jamaica and move to NYC in the 1970s. When I wrote this song I was listening to a lot of artists like Joan Baez and Judee Sill, and later when I started working on demos of the song I started to get into The Delfonics and The Supremes, and then old reggae artists like Alton Ellis and Phyllis Dillon. We recorded countless versions of the song in a home studio that my partner Evan Wright and I had slowly formed. Around this time, we met Gabe Wax, who started working with us on the track and later ended up doing the final mix for it. Working with him was an impactful experience because he understood all the nuances of what I wanted this track to be and he also taught us a lot. We would sit and watch him mix the song, which eventually helped push us to mix my forthcoming EP on our own.”

We're elated to present "Still I”, the elegant first single and video from the debut collaborative album by acclaimed composer and pianist, Bruno Bavota, and renowned singer/songwriter, Chantal Acda. While all aspects of the video's production took place in Bavota's home country of Italy, the art of ballet is very personal to Acda's Dutch childhood and formative years, having been trained in classical ballet for much of
her life.
These creative and spiritual connections are a theme in the duo’s debut album,
A Closer Distance, which was crafted without ever being in the same room together.
Subject, direction, photography, editing: Valentina Gaudiosi and Angelo Cariello.
Production: La Balena
Starring/dancer: Luciana Strollo
Locations: Calitri (Avellino - Italy), Contursi Terme (Salerno - Italy)
