Envy – the venerable Japanese underground institution that has inspired multiple sub-genres in the past three decades – returns with their 8th full-length album, Eunoia, out October 11! Pre-order Eunoia today and hear the first single; the anthemic, swirling "Beyond the Raindrops”. It represents one of the boldest and bravest creative shifts in envy Official’s songwriting in the past 15+ years. Anchored by a shoegaze-influenced backdrop, it features vocalist Tetsu Fukagawa’s most melodic and pop-oriented singing to ever appear in an envy song. As Fukagawa explains: “This was a new challenge for me. I wrote the lyrics with a focus on sounds that fit the melody, rather than the meaning of the words. I think it ultimately gave envy a fresh impression.” Originally a song that almost didn’t make it past the demo stage, “Beyond the Raindrops” now clearly stands as one of the strongest songs on a new album absolutely packed with standouts.
Eunoia is available for pre-order on CD, LP, Digital, and limited edition Warm Grey colored vinyl!

Our very own June McDoom tells her story and how she got here in the critically-acclaimed video series, “Song That Found Me At The Right Time”, made by @soundsofsaving – a non-profit mental health organization – in partnership with @988lifeline . This one features June McDoom taking on the classic Judee Sill song, “Emerald River Dance”.
SoS sat down with the singer/songwriter to discuss her mental health journey and specifically what Judee Sill’s song “Emerald River Dance” has meant to her. In keeping with the series, McDoom and collaborator Evan Wright also performed the song exclusively for Sounds of Saving.
This was filmed this past spring at Brooklyn’s Prospect Park. Watch their performance, which appropriately feels like a collaboration with nature itself—birds singing, leaves rustling and nylon strings plucking.
