Rainy day vibes around our home 🌧️ It’s lamp o’clock all day.

Yesterday, I wandered around our home with my camera, capturing some of the coziest corners on one of the rainiest, but coziest, days of the year so far. I love how our home feels on those days—soft light, lamps aglow. Interestingly, I rarely share our home on days like this.

I hope you enjoy these captures as much as I enjoyed taking them 🤎

*And yes, it’s February, and the Christmas garland is still up on our mantle. I call it winter decor 🌲 haha. Anyone else? Just me? 😅

2023 project recap 🏡

This year’s “theme” around our home was about embracing change. Change within ourselves and change around our home as our home style continues to evolve.

Now looking back at this year’s house projects, I feel like we slowed down considerably compared to the first or second year in our home, and to be honest, it feels good.

We took more time to complete projects as we squeezed so much more life in between with our family.

I love how this house of ours now reflects our family so much more and even though it looks finished we still have more spaces to complete: Our primary bathroom, backyard, garage and laundry room still to go, plus lots of smaller projects all around. And maybe a few more repainting sessions because that’s me, and that should not be a surprise anymore. What can I say? I love change.

1. Our stairway refresh is finished just in time for the holidays.
2. New bedroom color for the year.
3. Our kids bathroom remodel was a great learning experience: we learned so much with this DIY remodel.
4. Small changes, big impact: A new rug in the bonus room.
5. My sister in law’s one weekend budget makeover.
6. New wallpaper in our study.
7. Pantry refresh at the beginning of the year.
8. IKEA Havsta hack - it was fun to experiment with color.
9. Found my dream coffee table for our living room.
10. Another small change, big impact: Hung curtains in the dining room.

Looking forward to what this year will bring. Thank you for following along, friends. Happy new year ❤️

Our family room is ready for Christmas and looking the coziest it’s ever been🎄

For this year decor I re-used most of the things we already had, the only difference for the tree was the addition of red bows which make it look even more sweet🎄

For the fireplace mantle I layered 2 different faux garlands, one pine and one cedar and then added a few dried willow branches and baby’s breath.

This Christmas view couldn’t be complete without a cozy fire, loving the design of our new fireplace screen from 😍

We will be watching Christmas movies here this weekend, do you have any favorites? We already watched The Grinch, Elf and The Holiday.

As always, I linked all room sources on my LTK, link in my bio.

Have a great weekend friends!

Welcome December 🕯️ while I love videos, there is something about photography that usually stops me in my scroll. Especially nowadays with this hectic seasonal life pace, I appreciate the calmness of a picture so much more.

While I love filling a space in our home with Christmas decor and lots of color, I’m all about embracing simplicity and the little festive touches as well. A little wreath hung over a bread board has been my go to for this view since we installed that pot rack. This time, just a couple of garlands are decorating our kitchen window. It’s all about those simple details. And if you use what you have from past Christmases, even better. -no need to chase trends-.
Decorate with what you have, if it holds sentimental value, even better 🎄 Repeat decor! No need to do something new every year.
That’s all, remember to enjoy this season! ❤️

Sharing a few of my favorite views from last year Christmas decorations in our family room 😍🎄
We are putting our Christmas tree up this weekend, and most likely keeping a similar vibe to last year. I love a traditional Christmas with reds and greens, lots of twinkle lights, gold tones, plaid blankets, seasonal pillows and sentimental ornaments. What about you, What is your Christmas decorating style?

The pre-lit version of our Christmas tree is currently on sale, I linked almost everything from this view on my LTK. Linked in my bio :)

From a few decor additions and small seasonal changes 🍂, to the best addition of all, having family over ❤️ My parents are here! And they will stay with us for all the upcoming holidays.
I can’t wait to start decorating for Christmas with my mom, like we used to do when I was a kid. My favorite time of the year! 🎄

If our home were a season, it would be Autumn 🍂 Happy October!
Sharing a few stills 📸 of our family room decorated for FALL.

I like to transition our home to this new season with smaller changes like putting out heavier blankets, Plaid, tartan and gingham speak Fall to me, changing a few pillow covers, incorporating more of those beautiful fall colors with branches and florals -faux and real- and of course adding more lamps and candles 🕯️

If I have less things to put away when the new season comes, even better! Now, Christmas, oh that is another story 😅

FAQ: how big is the room?

Without the Murphy bed this room was almost a perfect square measuring 10’ x 9’.7”.
Even though I loved the previous version, it was an unused room in our home that only collected clean laundry on the bed 😅 -do you have a room like that too?-

We needed a work space so we decided to built a Murphy bed and that gave us the opportunity to utilize this room at its full potential ✨ the perfect combo guest bedroom/home office. no regrets!!

Love this before and after because both versions are beautiful but the latest makes more sense for our family. Also, did you notice we repurposed the shiplap planks? 😉

It’s time to pick a new color! 🎨

And where do I go when I need some color inspiration? My own home, because I need to make sure the next color I choose makes sense with our home color story.

If you are following my stories you know we are currently renovating our kids bathroom -phase 2!!- and I shared yesterday the two moodboards for the space and today I am making a final decision on color.

So I am either doing a pretty mustard/yellow slightly lighter than our pantry and boys bedroom wallpaper color or a pretty soft red/berry a good in between our island color and Ellie’s bedroom red accents. Decisions decisions! What color do you think I am doing? 🤔 Find the two moodboards for the space on stories!

From a post I wrote on 2019.

“How you can decide what colors to use in your decor? My starting point when styling a living room is always the rug. I pick the colors from the rug and add them as accents in the space. I love a neutral base like for example the sofa and the chairs, and then add color with the things that I can change. You can find inspiration for the color story of your home from a pillow, rug or a piece of art. 🙌🏻”

Valeria from 2019 was so right about this! Haha

I love how this rug completely changed the vibe of this room 😍 sharing a few stills today from last week’s mini living room refresh.

I have been debating about adding a Roman shades to this window since we finished our kitchen and I am still thinking about the pros and cons, our range is right next to this window as you can see, I wonder how the maintenance might be? Maybe cafe curtains might be easy to upkeep? Or maybe I will just leave the window like that 😅…What do you think?

I used these pictures as my reel covers last week but I thought I should share them as static images as well.

A few details that make me happy about this view. A hanging basket 🌱, a tiny lamp in a cabinet, a disco ball in a bowl and the beautiful spring weather we are having lately 🌞

I always get questions about that tall lamp, it’s a thrifted find and the shade was an easy DIY, I recovered in raffia to add some texture and I think it turned out beautiful. You can find a tutorial if you go back to my reels from last year ☺️

This view feels complete 😍 it took several tries, but I think adding that beautiful gallery wall above the vintage bench completed the space. It brings color, character and personality. My favorite detail have to be the three custom side portraits of my kids, something I know we will treasure for years to come. I am sharing the sources for all the art pieces I have on my stories today :)

A few tips on creating a gallery wall,
Start with a color palette in inspired by one piece of art 🖼️
Mix and match frame materials and sizes.
Use a mix of different art mediums for a collected look.

Most importantly,
Have fun!

This before and after view might be my favorite in our home and one that I think I haven’t shared in a very long time.
No walls down, no structural changes neither an -unnecessary- complete stairway remodel, just the same 60’s stairs but better 😍

Yes it took two tries to get them just right but the only way to know what works sometimes it’s by trial and error, I am glad I didn’t settle and went for this change.
I personally love this softer color palette, it complements all the surrounding spaces beautifully, it all now flows so well.

This project is not done yet, I still need to work staining and sealing the handrail and newel post and we also want to add brass stair rods on each step, but I couldn’t wait to share the progress because I love it so much ☺️

The vintage stair runner is from a small shop on Etsy, it’s linked on my stories highlights.
Stair color is accessible beige by Sherwin Williams.

New color REVEAL and a before and after, swipe to the end to see how the room looked the day we got the keys 3 years ago, the day after we installed our floors and today 🥹 we’ve come a long way!

The heart wants what the heart wants 🤷‍♀️

I loved our dark wall color but only until noon haha, after that our room always felt dark and not so inviting…Maybe I am also going though a “lighter phase” I don’t know haha

👩‍🎨
Something I learned with all this painting is that colors change a lot during the day, that’s why before painting you must sample a swatch in different walls of your room and look at that paint swatch at different times of the day. But also, even with all those paint swatches and samples, it’s hard to visualize a whole room with a small sample on your walls, you might go ahead and paint the room and then you might not be so happy about it… that happens, but you know what?! It’s just paint!
Also, you might just want a little change after some time, you know…Do what makes you happy, your home your rules.

That’s all 🫶🏻✌🏻

3 years ago today was the day our offer was accepted. It was one the most exciting and scary days of our lives, we were going to buy our first home 🥲

If you swipe to the 4th picture you can see the flyers for the open house on the kitchen peninsula. That is how this kitchen looked on the day we got the keys, then the 3rd picture is after what I called a “bandaid renovation” -painted everywhere- of course I had to take that picture on one of the messiest days haha, good times.

I can’t believe it’s been 3 years already! It’s been a blessing to call this house our home and we are grateful for this journey, even more special to be able to share this journey with all of you ❤️ BTW, how is that 250k of you are here! 🥲 thank you

I went with a completely unexpected color combination and I love it!

This pantry just got better with an additional cabinet base to maximize storage and a bunch of cute accents because every corner of our home can be beautiful and special. It’s all about the little things that bring you joy, right? Today for me is having a beautiful and organized pantry. Now I can finally move to the next project, another Ikea Hack! Isn't the blue so good with the unlacquered brass hardware? I am a big fan of dark paint colors with brass. Once again I had to go with hardware and light fixtures, just like we did in our kitchen. Love their timeless design and amazing quality products.

This might be our favorite project this year. A built-in Murphy bed! This project completely changed this room for the better, it just works so much better for our family and we couldn't be happier with the end result.

Home office/guest room Reveal PART 1 Sharing pictures of the room as as a home office today 💙 Swipe to the end to see how this room started almost 3 years ago.

I don’t have a degree in design, I am learning so much with this first home of ours.
I consider this house like my intensive design course haha I am learning so much making mistakes as well. I never designed a kitchen before the one last year, Paul and I never built cabinets or a Murphy bed before this room. We barely knew how to use power tools besides a drill almost 3 years ago.
In almost 3 years ( I can’t believe it’s going to be 3 years!!) I have learned so much, it’s amazing what we are capable of doing when we have the desire to create, don’t you think? My home is my canvas and I love that I get to transform it into this beautiful place for our family.
If there is one thing that I hope you take from this project and whole experience is to not rush decisions, to enjoy the process, to take your time making your home yours. There is not a thing like a “finished room” a home is always changing and evolving.
