Balkan Insight's Transitional Justice The Balkan Transitional Justice project thus secures a regular and updated flow of information about transitional justice in the region.

Balkan Transitional Justice is a regional programme that aims to increase a general public understanding of transitional justice in post-Yugoslav countries (Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, and Serbia) and improve the state The Balkan Transitional Justice project bridges the gap between the state and the public by providing quality and objective information about tra

nsitional justice. Correct, truthful, and professional reporting about war crimes is missing in the post-Yugoslav region, which creates a major obstacle on the path to establishing the truth and moving away from the past. In various stages of its implementation the project also offers a database of issues related to war crimes that consists of the individual reports and articles in the first stage, audio reports in the second, and TV documentaries in the third. Moreover, the establishment of a fully-trained journalistic team with an expertise in court monitoring and analytical reporting is an important achievement for the future improvement of the state of media in the region.

The Prishtina Basic Court on Friday found Kosovo Bosniak Ekrem Bajrovic, a former member of Serbian forces during the Kosovo war in 1998-99, guilty of war crimes, including the beating, torture, and killing of ethnic Albanian civilians in the municipality of Istog/Istok in May 1999.

“When we received the decision, it was too late,” Veton Elshani, Kosovo police deputy commander for the north, told BIRN.

The youngest of 14 genocide victims who will be buried on Thursday at the annual Srebrenica commemoration will be Beriz Mujic, who was killed aged 17 and whose remains were found last year.

"He will be buried next to his brother Hazim, who was buried in 2013," said Bosnian Missing Persons Institute spokesperson Emza Fazlic. Their father’s body has yet to be found, she added.
