• Okamoto: “We decided that if the brand's identity is true psychological horror, we needed to start by remaking Silent Hill 2. There were of course some people inside the company who thought it would be better to start with 1, but I wanted to start this project with something that symbolizes this identity.”
• Konami is open to collaboration with independent studios to make more Silent Hill titles
• Silent Hill 2 Remake will have Japanese voicing for the first time in the series
• James was deliberately made slightly older by the developers after consulting with Ito for a number of reasons: fans of the original are older now as well as modern systems are more capable of depicting middle-aged persons than in the PS2 era
• Ito is now responsible for combat design. Original monsters designs are respected while combat is improved to be more fun, which means changing AI or small design elements
• Ito: “I think that the remake has ended up as a more interesting experience than the original.”
• Yamaoka is only remaking the music and not working on the sound design as he did in the original

"We are focusing on bringing the distinct, visceral atmosphere back in the modernized SILENT HILL 2. Longtime fans shouldn’t worry about us “missing the point” while we’re livening up the title. We faithfully stick to the traditional story canon while remaking the gameplay and updating the graphics from the ground up. These are the reasons why Konami entrusted us with the remake in the first place. A big visible change is the adoption of an over-the-shoulder camera, which altered the perspective of a few iconic set pieces, but also meant an overhaul to the combat system. The latest technological achievements do wonder when it comes to making the visuals pop. As you see, we are not straying away from the original concept of making this cult classic; we just have some ideas on how to make the peculiar scare factors more appealing to the contemporary audience."
