About 18 months ago, I decided that I was going to largely step away from live events and live sound, and begin a new path to producing and editing . 🎙

After losing all of my gig work to the pandemic, I had time to really sit with myself and take inventory of my professional life.

I had lost a lot of the excitement and passion that I had when I began in live sound and events.

Through the pandemic I was able to use my new-found free time to reconnect with those I had typically pushed aside in pursuit of work.

I realized that I had been missing out on a lot of life's more enjoyable things; hunting, fishing, playing hockey, spending time with friends on a long weekend.

That's when I decided that I needed to pivot. I needed more control over my life and my schedule.

I hired a business coach to help me plan and launch my new business The Pod Cabin, and we began to plan everything out.

When I had my first call with my coach, he asked: "Jordan, what is your goal for this business? What are you hoping to achieve in, say, 5 years?"

I sat with that question for a second, and responded with "honestly, at the end of the day, I want to be editing a podcast in front of the fireplace at my hunting camp after a day in the woods. I want to freedom to be able to go out into the country, spend the day hunting or fishing or hiking, and when I get back I can sit down and get some work done from anywhere that I happen to be."

Well, a couple of weeks ago, that first conversation became a reality! I didn't realize it at first, but after looking up from my laptop I realize I was doing exactly what I set out to do.

I had just come back from a day of hunting and hiking, I had my feet up in front of the fire while dinner was cooking, and I was editing a podcast.

I still have a lot of work to do in building and growing The Pod Cabin, but taking a moment to appreciate this little victory gives me the motivation I'll need to make sure that I'll be sitting in this exact same position next fall. 🍁

Took a week away to head to the woods and recharge.

Didn’t end up seeing much, but it’s always such a pleasure to be able to sit in a tree and watch the sun rise or set, and just take in everything happening around me.

Now I’m back and ready to pump out some more great content!

It’s a tough habit to break, but a very important one.

Interjections take away from the main message that your guests is trying to convey, so be sure to allow them
To finish their entire thought before you chime in.

The reality is, a podcast is so much more than one piece of content!

With a single podcast episode you can:
