As a Michigan non-profit, happyfrogdetroit hopes to serve as a "digital commons," a place we can meet and talk together about the ideas and solutions that are transforming southeastern Michigan. Almost all the content here--blog posts, videos, events, answers, directory listings, comments, reviews--will come from you. Detroit today is no longer the story of de-industrialization and urban crisis in
America. It is hard to walk down the street without tripping over a foreign film crew. The eyes of the world are now focused on what comes next. We have a once-in-a-century window to rebuild this city on a new foundation that will benefit everyone: one based on sustainability, neighborhood-based economic opportunity and self reliance. happyfrog's intention is to make our community visible. We are convinced that the true size and vibrancy of the collective work happening here is not well understood, even by those who are participants or have lived here a long time. The Detroit area has for the longest time been characterized by the illusion of separation and continually organized itself around differences. happyfrogdetroit is a place for us to recognize all that we have in common.
