Gideon from Woods of Wonders on how the project began ❤

It's awesome how the project gathered such momentum - from just an idea into a huge record with so many amazing contributors.

Of course Gideon's fiance Charlaine played a catalytic role here and it's really cool how they made it all happen together.

That's some truly wholesome metal for you!

And a big thank you again to Louis for joining me, this episode was such a pleasure to record and I hope you all enjoyed it along with these clips :)

Louis of Ominous Conclusions on priorities & comparing yourself to others ❤

This is another great lesson here.

It’s easy to compare yourself to others and only see the best of what they’re doing, but ultimately when it comes to it, it’s up to you to decide what’s important to you.

Everything takes time, effort & energy. It’s down to you to decide what’s really worth prioritising.

What’re your thoughts & experiences on this?

Louis of Ominous Conclusions No.1 priority: Practice ❤

In the latest podcast episode, Louis broke down his daily routines, which are geared largely around his musical practice.

I have to admire the many hours a day he dedicates towards this - the man is serious about his craft.

What are your thoughts on this and if you have one, what is your practice schedule like?

Louis of Ominous Conclusions on being tired or lazy ❤

This is an important message here. Many of us get caught up in the hustle culture of needing to be busy all the time - but you’ve really gotta be careful with this, or you’ll end up getting burned out.

It’s great to be productive, disciplined & efficient - but you’ve got to follow the responses that your body is telling you and be willing to adapt.

If you’re tired, then you need to rest. So as Louis says, know whether you’re tired, or just being lazy.

Follow the rhythms of your body & you’ll get a lot more out of it in the long run.

What are your thoughts?

Ominous Conclusions walking meditation pt.2 ❤

Following the previous post where Louis describes how walking in the woods is the best way of clearing his mind, here he describes his favourite spot - one which seems very suitable for a Lovecraftian guitar wizard 🧙🏼‍♂️🎸

Where's your favourite spot?

Louis of Ominous Conclusions walking meditation ❤

Here Louis shares how walking in the woods is his main way of clearing his mind and staying grounded.

I love this topic, as such grounding/meditational practices can be so beneficial - especially to us creative people who otherwise might struggle with an often chaotic state of mind.

The woods and nature have a particularly wonderful energy for this. It’s an environment that certainly helps to give perspective on life.

What are your favourite methods & practices for clearing your mind?

Louis of Ominous Conclusions on taking social media breaks ❤

This one is part of a bigger segment where we were talking about this recurring topic of 'friends instead of fans'

The fact we build a much closer connection with our listeners and create a tight knit community means that they really get it.

They can understand you on a personal level. That's why Louis believes that this is also a very healthy way of building a fan base.

That and it keeping your ego in check! 😄

Louis of Ominous Conclusions on finding likeminded colleagues ❤

This is a really heartfelt moment where Louis demonstrates the power of finding people like you.

Especially to find driven, hard working individuals who encourage and inspire you to do your best.

It's hard to come across such people in your local area… But no doubt it is one the biggest advantages of being online.

The feeling is mutual and getting to know people like Louis brings so much enrichment to my life that I am forever grateful for.

What do you think about it?

New podcast episode featuring Louis of Ominous Conclusions ❤

On this episode I am joined by French Guitarist & Composer Louis Nas, someone who I am honoured to call a dear friend since meeting around the release of 'The Outsider' EP - from his H.P. Lovecraft inspired instrumental metal project Ominous Conclusions.

It was clear to me the moment I came across Louis that he was just my kind of person and after reaching out to express my admiration, we instantly hit it off and became friends.

Louis is a remarkable composer & musician who is so dedicated to his craft, it's really been an inspiration to get to know him and I have been anticipating this episode since the very beginning!

Now we finally managed to get together to record it and it made for such an enjoyable episode.

We talked music & composing, as a means of storytelling - as well some expert theory advice like that Louis shares on his educational YouTube channel.

We also spoke about life, daily routines & the continuous pursuit of bettering ourselves.

It was a real treat speaking to Louis and I hope that you enjoy listening to it too.

Let me know what you think!

Discussing my intentions for this podcast with Erik Rayne from Tales Of Arken ❤

11 Episodes in on this bi-weekly podcast and I’ve really been enjoying the conversations I’ve had thus far!

The long format really enables the opportunity to get a lot deeper with guests than in a typical interview.

This results in often comprehensive introductions to who the guest really is, which is fantastic for getting to know one another in a community.

And in regards to community - this is only just the beginning. Lots more to come on that very soon :)

Erik Rayne from Tales Of Arken discusses community among musicians ❤

Anyone who's been following me for more than 5 minutes will know that I'm all about this, so it's great to hear it come from Erik this time!

As he says, music is not a competition.

We are much better off supporting one another as artists, for a rising tide lifts all ships.

Erik Rayne from Tales Of Arken talks managing expectations ❤

This is another important one that seems to be almost a right of passage for many musicians…

Crickets on your first release.

Unfortunately, it’s not as simple as being able to make a great album and put it out there, not if you’re expecting to get a lot of listeners!

It’s important to manage your expectations - as well as to focus on marketing and building community, which takes a lot of time, consistency & effort.

What do you think - have you been there before?

Erik Rayne from Tales Of Arken on enjoying the process ❤

This is a topic that’s come up a few times now and rightly so… It is a very important message.

Erik elaborates on how he used to always live in the future, in a constant state of rush and anxiety.

It’s much better to live in the moment and enjoy what it is that you’re doing.

Can you relate to this?

Erik Rayne from Tales Of Arken on operatic vocal training ❤

As a lyrically trained vocalist, Erik explains how many people he speaks to are surprised at the crossover between opera and metal.

Naturally, I believe that having a strong foundation is hugely beneficial no matter what style you do.

New podcast episode featuring Erik Rayne from Tales Of Arken ❤

Hailing from Spain, the band refer to themselves as 'Clockwork Metal', due to the inclusion of steampunk themes and aesthetics to their music.

Erik is a passionate guy that has been working hard on his music for a long time. Having now solidified a fantastic line up with Tales Of Arken, the band are on the up, with an album and EP behind them and lots more to come.

They recently released an absolutely killer new single 'Allegory' from their next album and are creating some wonderful music videos to tell the story.

I really enjoyed getting to chat with Erik all about it. I hope you enjoy listening to it too!

Alex Centorame from Blood of Indigo on success through authenticity ❤

In this final clip from the podcast with Alex, we get a really poignant message about being authentic in what you do.

I've definitely struggled with this in the past, deviating from my real core to try and find success and Alex is very right…

It just doesn't work. At least it didn't for me.

So I couldn't agree with this any more.

Thank you again to Alex for joining me on the podcast, this was a really great episode that I thoroughly enjoyed!

I hope you did too :

Alex Centorame from Blood of Indigo on making the music industry a better place ❤

I love these more philosophical moments from the podcast with Alex.

What are your thoughts - do you want to make the music industry a better place?

Alex Centorame from Blood of Indigo on fans as friends ❤

I think it's a really important point that Alex makes here about the way the music industry is going.

It's really all about creating a community, where your fans get a much closer connection to you and really are more like friends that you hang out with.

What do you think? Is this the future of the music industry? For the most part, I think so…

WJR ❤

Alex Centorame from Blood of Indigo on a vital question from Lindsay Schoolcraft ❤

What is it that you want to contribute to music?

As Alex says, we all have something to contribute.

Whatever your most authentic expression of creativity is - that's what is calling to you.

But I also think it's important to position it this way.

That it's not about what you want to take from music, or any creative career.

It's about what you want to give.

What are your thoughts on this?

Alex from Blood of Indigo on art & love ❤

I had to post this fantastic quote Alex mentioned about how art & love are really the same thing, as each represents the ability to see yourself in something that's not you.

Does this resonate with you? It certainly does with me.

In fact it ties in perfectly to the philosophy of Love Anarchy - which I will be discussing a lot more very soon :)

Alex from Blood of Indigo talks being in a band with his best friend's ❤

This is a real touching moment, where Alex lays out the dynamic of the band and the strong sense of harmony the 3 guys have with each other.

It's definitely something special to get a sense of comradery like that, one that's clearly had a very positive effect on the bands music, but most importantly - allowed them to truly enjoy every step of the journey.

Have you ever experienced musical companionship like this before? No doubt it's a dream for many.

Alex from Blood of Indigo talks following your heart ❤

And as he says, it is ultimately your responsibility to make your dreams come true.

Go out there and make it happen.

You've got this! 🤘

Here Alex from Blood of Indigo discusses learning harsh vocals 🤘

It's true that you might hear a lot of horror stories about hurting yourself without the right technique, even just for singing in general.

But I think the lesson here is to not worry too much or overthink it, especially when you're just getting started.

Alex goes on in the episode to say that in the end, he just went with the techniques from the Melissa Cross Zen of Screaming DVD and otherwise just responded to what his body was telling him.

Of course, you can always refine your technique later. The main thing first of all is just to start!

What do you think? I'd be interested to hear your thoughts and experiences on the matter.

New podcast episode featuring Alex Centorame of Blood of Indigo 🤘❤🔥

It's a very exciting time for the Dark Fantasy Metal band, who are coming in hot off the back of the release of their debut album 'Dawn of the Shaded World'.

I've been following the band for a while and must say I've been blown away by all they've been doing, with all the fantastic illustration & world building, as well as absolutely stellar album - it's safe to say that Blood of Indigo is right up my street.

The guy's in the band are really great and so to chat with Alex was a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

We went into great depth about their story and all that they're doing, but also spoke a lot about the music industry, as well as some more philosophical takes on it all.

I hope you enjoy this episode as much as I did making it!
