I hope that you will contribute your suggestions to our newly created Dream Theme page (created only a year after the show began!) and if you have any interesting ideas for themes you would like to nominate please post them on here...
So far we have had themes including Space-themed songs, songs with great string arrangements, songs about famous and infamous people, protest songs, greatest duets/
collaborations, dynamite drummers, artists who died too soon who could have given so much more to music, chosen genres e.g. Some themes may warrant a two part special or we may return to a chosen theme on a later show e.g. We might also choose to do a special on a artist's career we feel is worth shining a spotlight on (Artists whose career we have celebrated in this way have so far included Depeche Mode, PJ Harvey, Beastie Boys and The Smiths). We have also focused on festivals featuring Irish bands whose profile may not be so high e.g Knockenstockan and Hard Working Class Heroes. There have also been themes that have been suggested by local news such as the Train songs theme (the march by residents of the Dublin 15 community calling for for the opening of Hansfield Train Station) and the Zombie-themed songs (Dublin Zombie Walk, 2011) etc. The show began it's run around late November 2010 with the invaluable assistance of the volunteeer staff at the community radio station. 92.5 Phoenix FM particularly Sinéad Cotter, Alan Maxwell and former assistant station manager Liam Flanagan. Also thanks to everyone on Facebook who has contributed suggestions even before we managed to get around to setting up an official page. Keep them coming! Grassyass! Dave (DJ Budge)
