In this world where the hustle and bustle of daily life often leaves little room for acts of kindness, Mrs. Vickylyn A. Guieb stands as a testament to the power of generosity.

At Isabela State University-San Mariano Campus, this dedicated librarian goes beyond her traditional duties, fostering an environment of care and support for her students. Through simple yet meaningful gestures, she transforms the campus library into a haven of nourishment and learning, making a lasting impact on the lives of many.

Surrounded by the shelves of books and hushed study corners, she stands out not just as a keeper of books but as a beacon of generosity and care for the learners as she offers them free coffee and breadโ€”a simple yet impactful gesture that has garnered appreciation and warmth.

โ€œAng inspirasyon ko to provide free coffee and bread is those students na maagang pumapasok sa school at wala nang time mag-breakfast sa kanilang bahay or boarding house,โ€ Guieb states, highlighting her motivation to ensure that no student's educational journey is hindered by something as basic as a morning meal.

Her initiative addresses immediate hunger and aligns with broader goals of sustainability and community well-being. Underscoring how her actions contribute to both the country's Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and the utilization of the campus library, Guieb notes, โ€œSDG number 2-Zero Hunger; nag-increase din ang library users.โ€

The response from the students has been overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing gratitude for her thoughtful gesture. Guieb herself gleams with joy when discussing the support she receives, โ€œSuper happy ako kasi may mga employees na willing mag-sponsor ng free coffee at bread.โ€

Beyond providing sustenance, Guieb is a firm advocate for the holistic development of the library's patrons. โ€œAng maaadvice ko sa mga clients namin na magbasa ng mga libro sa library para mas marami pa silang madidiscover at matutunan kasi naniniwala ako na ang continuous learning is nakakabata," she said warmly.

Her belief in the refreshing power of continuous learning mirrors her dedication to strengthening an environment where students not only study but thrive.

Guieb exemplifies how a librarian's role can surpass the boundaries of bookkeeping and cataloging. Through her compassion and proactive support, she has created a nurturing space within the campus library, where every student, regardless of their circumstances, can find nourishment for both mind and body.

As she continuously does her mission, Guieb remains a glowing example of how small acts of kindness can ripple outwards, enriching lives and nurturing a stronger, more inclusive academic environment.

Her commitment shows us that libraries are not just repositories of knowledge; they are sanctuaries of support and sources of inspiration for generations to come.

"What is most important is for you to internalize everything you learned from your NSTP implementer."

This was the statement of Dr. Ruby B. Dimas, Campus Administrator, during the closing ceremony of this year's National Service Training Program with the theme, "Empowered to Serve, Inspire and Lead" held at the Agri-Educ Quadrangle, earlier today, June 28.

She also expressed that NSTP program is important especially in developing students as a good citizen.

"Hindi lang tayo confined sa sarili natin, sa ating pamilya. We need to open ourselves to other people," Dimas said.

Moreover, Dr. Kristopher R. Lopez, Campus Academic Affairs Director, shared to the NSTP graduates that the program has two major reasons.

"First is the epistemic reason - you are in the campus to gain knowledge about NSTP. Para madagdagagan ang inyong dunong, para kayo ay matuto. Second is pragmatic reason because it is for your personal growth," Lopez said.

Furthermore, Engr. Allen S. Marquez, Guest Speaker from Isabela State University - Echague Campus emphasized to the students that leadership is not about calling positions it is about a beacon of hope, a source of inspiration and a catalyst of change.

Meanwhile, in his closing remarks, Dr. Jaypee A. Zipagan, BSEd Program Chairperson, encouraged the students to aspire for the best and to beat themselves to become better.

Flags fly, bound to the southeastern part,
Held in the close fists of brave soldiers,
To reach the shimmer of lights,
And let courage sing louder among voices.

Our country emerges from darkness,
Years of tears in the hands of disaster,
Like a chained winged soul in azure skies,
Now dances freely with unfettered ties.

Silhouettes of liberty seem to follow
Valiant spirits who battled for the Filipinos,
From farmland to streets, mountains to coasts,
The heavens bear the weight of their timeless legacy.

Let the symphony of freedom serenade us,
Let people sway their feet to the resounding melody,
On this day when we can finally flap
Our wings that were once clipped by traps.

The Isabela State University-San Mariano Campus recognized the passers of March 2024 Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LEPT) through a recognition program with the theme โ€œSibolโ€ earlier today, June 11, held at the Agri-Educ Quadrangle.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Jaypee A. Zipagan, Bachelor of Secondary Education Program Chairperson, emphasized that the achievement of the passers marked the beginning of success for the BSEd Program.

He also acknowledged that the administration of the institution, particularly the transformative leadership of Dr. Ruby B. Dimas, Campus Administrator, is a contributory factor to the said academic achievement.

โ€œAlong the way marami pa tayong pagdadaanan and I just want to say that keep going and never give up,โ€ Zipagan said as he concluded his message.

Moreover, Dr. Ruby B. Dimas, Campus Administrator said that the passers perseverance and positivity has brought them in their triumph.

โ€œMy dear LEPT passers, my dear young professionals, your parents and your guardians are your number 1 heroes in your success,โ€ Dimas said.

This was also supported by Dr. Kristopher R. Lopez, Academic Affairs Director, as he expressed his gratitude to all the parents as they entrusted the tertiary level education of the passers to the campus.

In addition, Hon. Marivic B. Sumisim, Municipal Councilor and Chair of the Committee on Education, duly represented by Hon. Janmarc Ancheta, said that the essence of humility is like that of a growing bamboo tree: the higher it grows, the lower it bends.

Furthermore, in her closing remarks, Dr. Evelyn B. Cristobal, Extension and Training Services Director and BSEd faculty, said that the journey towards the teaching profession requires passion and perseverance.

"Your hard work and dedication have finally paid off,โ€ she concluded.
