Lessons From Anthony Joshua
He used to be rave of the moment, he became a household name, many people were proud of him even when they don’t watch boxing.
Suddenly, Andy Ruiz beat him, and his career was hit like a car hitting a person despite he beat Andy Ruiz in re- match. Then, fighting Oleksandr Usyk thereafter almost ruined his career, he lost to Usyk twice back-to-back, he lost all his titles such as WBA, IBF & WBO. He even admitted at a point that he no longer found boxing fun.
The noise about him vanished, some low thinkers were dropping negative posts like “Sebi we told you not to bring that belt to Buhari, see your life” how do you say this to someone losing his career? another one wrote “instead make you dey train, na Otedola pikin you dey hang out with” again I ask, is there anything wrong with hanging out with a friend? Several people projected him as “weak”, someone even said he was just a lucky Model not a boxer, as in the same Joshua that fought Joseph Parker like a hungry lion o? Haa managing stardom is hard o.
Gradually, Joshua is recently coming back, He won all his three fights this year, he broke Otto’s nose in his last night fight lol, the Otto that gave Tyson Fury a tough fight in 2019 but couldn’t handle Joshua at all. Joshua dominated him
The lesson here is that:
1. No matter how much you have achieved in your career, you can suddenly drop to the bottom, don’t stay there, find your way up again.
2. While you are fighting back for survival, start low and gradually, don’t rush it, the three fighters Joshua had fought this year didn’t earn him back his belts yet, but I guess he is using them build back confidence before fighting a champion.
3. When you fail, a lot of people will have negative opinion about you, your friends may look away, keep building regardless.
