For those of you that don’t know, this is where my journey began in the music community of Charleston, WV. I interned at WTSQ 88.1FM, located on the 8th floor of the Union Building, before eventually starting my radio show titled “Grassroots Variety Hour”. In the few years I was there, I met a ton of people and it helped pursue my interest in local and regional music. It was fun working with in the community at events, shows, and festivals, as well as behind the scenes and on air. There’s a ton of great memories that flash back when I think of this cool old historical building. I’ll always cherish those. I hope the future of the Union Building is prosperous for the citizens of Charleston. 🫡 📻 🔊

On episode 47, my special guests are Matt Mavericks, Joey Zizzo, and Jacob Faircloughh (filling in for Chris Mavericks) of Drifting Roots. Drifting Roots is an original reggae band based out of Central Florida. The band was founded in San Diego, CA in 2018 by brothers Matthew Mavericks (vox/guitar) & Chris Mavericks (drums). After establishing roots in California, Matt & Chris relocated home to Florida where they met Joey Zizzo (bass). Their music is written, recorded, and produced by Matthew in his home music studio in Satellite Beach, FL. Drifting Roots has shared the stage with artists such as Collie Buddz, Steel Pulse, Julian Marley, The Movement, Mike Love and Authority Zero. With two Top 5 iTunes Charting albums out (Life is Good 2021) & (Meant to Be 2022), Drifting Roots is currently working on their third full length studio album. From the East Coast to the West Coast and everywhere in between, Drifting Roots tours relentlessly sharing their music and spreading love to each city they pass by. They made their debut at Live at "The Shop" on 3/21/24.
