The word April comes from the Ancient Romans, whose calendar we are using today.

Most of the months were named after deities, but it is unclear which deity the month of April was named after. We have only speculations.

What is clear is that the word April comes from the Latin word "Aprilis." No one knows for certain why the Romans named it so.

Some Roman authors, however, thought that "Aprilis" was related to the Latin verb "aperire," which means "to open," because April "opened" the buds of leaves and flowers. Those who live in Europe will notice that the flowers are now really "opening."
The season of Spring has just started!

There is, however, another strong suggestion that the name came from the Greek version of the goddess Venus, the Roman goddess of love, beauty, desire, s*x, fertility, prosperity, and victory that was also venerated in April.

The Greek equivalent of Venus was named Aphrodite (Aphros), or from the Etruscan name Apru. Consequently, many suggest that the name April was derived from her Greek equivalent, Apru.

What is also clear here is that the name April came from Roman or Greek ancient religions and traditions.

Happy new month of April.

Rome's Pantheon (built by Emperor Hadrian between 119-128 AD) is 142 feet in diameter. I don't think if anyone has ever built a bigger unreinforced concrete dome to this day.
How on earth did they do it?
It is nearly 2,000 years old.
How can something so ancient, of such scale, still be standing?

The Book of the Dead is an ancient Egyptian funerary text generally written on papyrus and used from the beginning of the New Kingdom (around 1550 BCE) to around 50 BCE.
The original Egyptian name for the text is translated as Book of Emerging Forth into the Light or Book of Coming Forth by Day. "Book of the Dead" is the closest term to describe the loose collection of texts consisting of a number of magic spells intended to assist a dead person's journey through the Duat, or underworld, and into the afterlife and written by many priests over a period of about 1,000 years. The Book of the Dead, which was placed in the coffin or burial chamber of the deceased, was part of a tradition of funerary texts which includes the earlier Pyramid Texts and Coffin Texts, which were painted onto objects, not written on papyrus.

Sculpture Name: "The Release from Deception", by Italian sculptor Francesco Queirolo 1759. Possibly the greatest test of patience in the history of art.
There is no rope in this image. It is carved from a single block of marble. The artist dedicated 7 years of his life to sculpt it, but what on earth inspired him to do that?

Tomb of Pharaoh Ramesses the 5th and Ramesses the 6th also known as KV9 and it dates back to the 20th dynasty.
It is one of the most important tombs in the valley of the kings that's why the egyptologist nicknamed the tomb The Library.
This tomb contains one of the most important religious texts of Ancient Egypt including, Book of the Dead, Book of the Day, Book of the Night, Book of the Earth, Book of the Gate and Book of the Caverns.
It was initially constructed by Ramesses the 5th but was later used by Ramesses 6th. The sarcophagus is a masterpiece of ancient Egyptian craftsmanship, intricately designed to house the mortal remains of the pharaoh and facilitate his journey to the afterlife.
Its walls tell stories of a civilization deeply intertwined with its beliefs in the divine, the cosmic, and the journey to the afterlife, ensuring that their pharaohs would transcend time and exist eternally in the realm of gods.

THE MOST ACCURATE CALENDAR IN THE WORLD

Iranians (Persian) and other communities celebrate their new year on March 20 or 21.
The Iranian New Year, called Nowruz, is the day containing the exact moment of the Northward equinox, which usually occurs on March 20 or 21, marking the start of the spring season.
The Persian Calendar is based on "astronomical observations of the Sun and is the most accurate calendar in the world".
Equinox is "the time when the sun crosses the plane of the earth's equator, making night and day of approximately equal length all over the earth and occurring about March 21 (vernal equinox, or spring equinox ) and September 22 (autumnal equinox).

Tiye (also known as Tiy, 1398-1338 BCE) was a queen of Egypt of the 18th dynasty, wife of the pharaoh Amenhotep III, mother of Akhenaten, and grandmother of both Tutankhamun and Ankhsenamun. She exerted an enormous influence at the courts of both her husband and son and is known to have communicated directly with rulers of foreign nations. The Amarna letters also show that she was highly regarded by these rulers, especially during the reign of her son. Although she believed in the traditional polytheistic religion of Egypt, she supported Akhenaten's monotheistic reforms, most likely because she recognized them as important political stratagems to increase the power of the throne at the expense of the priesthood of Amun. She died in her early sixties and was buried in the Valley of the Kings. Her mummy has positively been identified as that known as the 'Elder Lady', and a lock of her hair, possibly a keepsake of the young king's, was found in Tutankhamun's tomb.

Abu Simbel Temple, located in southern Egypt on the western bank of Lake Nasser.
An iconic archaeological site renowned for its colossal rock-cut temples. Built during the reign of Pharaoh Ramses II in the 13th century BCE, the temples are dedicated to the deities Ra-Harakhty, Ptah, Amun, and the deified Ramses himself.
The Great Temple is an architectural marvel, featuring four imposing statues of Ramses II seated at its entrance, each standing at a height of 65 feet. The interior is adorned with intricate hieroglyphs and vivid wall reliefs depicting military victories and religious scenes.
Upon entering the Great Temple, visitors are greeted by a vast hypostyle hall adorned with colossal statues of the pharaoh and intricate wall reliefs depicting Ramses II's military victories, particularly the Battle of Kadesh against the Hittites.
The grandeur of the interior is further emphasized by the intricately carved hieroglyphs narrating the divine lineage and the divine nature of Ramses II.
The hypostyle hall leads to the inner sanctum, the Holy of Holies, where statues of Ra-Harakhty, Ptah, Amun, and Ramses II are enshrined.

7 Mind-blowing facts about the world's most enigmatic structures:

1. The Great Pyramid was the tallest building in the world for around 3,800 years, until it was surpassed by Lincoln Cathedral in the 14th century.

2. They were once covered in gleaming white limestone casing stones (as pictured in the 1st frame). Some researchers also think the capstones at the top were plated with precious metals.

3. 2.3 million stone blocks make up the Great Pyramid, averaging 2.5 tons in weight. Quarrying these with little else than copper saws, chisels and pounding stones, then transporting and lifting them into place, is the most remarkable engineering feat ever accomplished.

4. When Napoleon visited the Great Pyramid in the late 18th century, he (correctly) calculated that it contained enough material for a 10-foot high wall around the entire perimeter of mainland France.

5. They are aligned to true north with incredible accuracy. The Great Pyramid is just 3.4 arcminutes off perfect alignment, or precision of 1 millimeter per meter of the length of its base.

6. The casing stones and inner chamber blocks of the Great Pyramid were fit together with such high precision that a knife's edge cannot fit between them.

7. Of the thousands of hieroglyphs found across Egypt, none of them mention how the pyramids were built or how the Egyptians cut stone. In fact, there are very few Ancient Egyptian texts found which mention the pyramids at all. And They do not contain any hieroglyphs or paintings, nor were any burial treasures, except Pharaoh Khufu no mummies found within. By contrast, the tombs at the Valley of the Kings are decorated with intricate hieroglyphic texts and artworks from floor to ceiling.
