B**M can be overwhelming to those first beginning. Toys and equipment can be expensive, and choices seem infinite. But something important to remember is that you don't have to buy expensive toys/equipment to enjoy a scene; chances are you have quite a bit around your house that you can use. Ties and belts can easily be used for bo***ge, gags, and impact play. Ice, dusters, clothespins, etc., can be used for sensory play. You are only as limited as your imagination!
Anything you try, make sure that you have looked into how to do it safely and that safewords/boundaries/limits have all been discussed prior to the scene.

Knowing the parts of your and your partner's body is crucial! This is not only important for health reasons but pleasure. Where are the erogenous zones? Where does your partner enjoy you touching? What spots overwhelm them?
Engaging in pleasure with your partner and not paying attention to their body is self-orientated and will not allow you to thrive in a B**M relationship.

The Eroticism of Lingerie
Many countries have laws about what people (usually women) can wear, which is part of Lingerie's allure. The allure of seeing something you 'shouldn't' be seeing can be a turn-on for some people. There is also the teasing aspect that Lingerie provides; it shows just enough to make your partner want to see more.
For some, though, just the act of wearing lingerie can help them feel s*xier and more powerful. It is powerful to know that you are in control of your own body and that they are only allowed to see what you want them to.

Proper Hygiene is an important aspect of B**M!
Why? Because during a scene there is typically a large number of fluids being exchanged as well as the various toys being used. This increases the risk for infections as well as bacteria to grow.
Make sure that you are maintaining your own personal hygiene as well as keeping your toys clean to ensure that your scenes are as safe as they can be.

Is Shower S*x really that Great?
There are some great benefits to shower s*x. The first of which is knowing that your partner is clean before engaging in an activity with you. The second is easy clean-up. The third is you are already in a perfect place for after-care!
But what movies don't show you is how there isn't that much room, and you have to fumble around one another unless you have a large shower, but most people have a tub/shower combo, which is not big enough. Another issue is water temperature. Some people like it so hot they are dining with Satan, others like it so cold it feels like ice, and your partner rarely wants it to be the same temperature as you. There is also the problem of water in the eyes, mouth, and other regions, but that typically isn't as big of a deal.
So even though there are some great benefits to having s*x in the shower, we don't find it that s*xy or erotic unless it is a HUGE shower with plenty of room to move around and you find a comfortable temperature.

Have you ever walked into a room, and a person is just exuding confidence to the point where you want to say "Yes Sir/Ma'am" at everything they ask? Because it is panty-dropping s*xy! A confident woman in a male-dominated society is not as common as we would wish, but I want to take notes when they are. Aftercare is the most crucial part of a scene; if you do not have the time or energy for aftercare, you should not participate in B**M.
Aftercare is unique to the individual; Some people do not want to be touched and would prefer to take a shower or ask you to hand them their favorite comfort item (Blankets, stuffed animals, etc.)
After-care is not needed after every scene for everyone but most like some form of a gentle come down from the endorphin rush; this might be in the simple form of just lying next to each other in bed or applying salves to their back after impact play.

A BSDM scene is a pre-planned space where B**M activities take place. The scene should be discussed thoroughly before the scene and consists of an agreed-upon beginning, middle, and end.
A B**M scene may occur at a club or some other play space. A typical scene may or may not include s*xual activity.
The term B**M scene is also used in the B**M community to refer to the community itself.
During a scene, a safe word should be agreed upon and respected. A safeword can be used at any time to stop a scene immediately and without repercussion.
