Doreen lighting up the night sky in New Haven 💜🌠

Yesterday after I got to meet up with Jessica Fritz Aguiar for a bit at Gouveia Vineyards, I took a ride down I-91 South. I pulled over between exits 7 and 6 in New Haven and hopped out to snap a few shots of one of the billboards that Jess set up for Doreen to commemorate the 35th anniversary of her disappearance. 💜 There's a second billboard on I-95 South in Bridgeport just past exit 29.

These billboards are the result of donations from the generous listeners of Walk Softly Children (formerly Sticky Beak). Don't worry about the quality; that's just from my phone and the digital screen. They look fabulous in person and I can only imagine how good they look at nighttime.

If you listened to the second season of Faded Out, and Jessica Fritz Aguiar's podcast Walk Softly Children (formerly Sticky Beak), you have heard the story of Doreen Vincent, who disappeared at 12 years old in June 1988.

Her father, Mark Vincent, the main person of interest in her disappearance, has recently been incarcerated on a stolen gun charge and was just paroled and now walks free. Now we're raising funds to get Doreen's face all over billboards in the New Haven area. We need Justice for Doreen.

After some long consideration, I have decided there are a number of finishing touches I want to put on Episode 1 before our third season begins.
So for that reason, the new season of Faded Out, Sweet Judith, will premiere next Sunday, MAY 1, 2022.
I'm sorry to make you all wait one more week.

It's time to reveal the cover art and story for the third season of Faded Out. 📣

This time around, I've decided to cover a different type of case. This is Judith Eva Barsi. Her case is closed. She's not a missing person. We're not still on the hunt for any perpetrators.
Judith was a child actress who made appearances in commercials, TV shows and movies from only 1984 until her final film was released in 1989.

If you don't recognize her name or her face, you might recognize her voice. She's best known as Ducky in The Land Before Time ("Yep! Yep! Yep!") and Ann-Marie in All Dogs Go to Heaven - the aforementioned final film.
After Judith's star began to rise, she and her mother Maria were shot to death by Judith's father Jozsef. Judith was only 10 years old. Jozsef would later turn the gun on himself.

The case may be closed, but I still have questions. This season the central question is the why. Why is the abuse and murder of Judith Barsi not a case that the public knows more about? Why did he do it? And could it have been prevented?

Since I decided on what story to talk about for my next season of , I have not been able to stop thinking about the case and the sweet little who was the victim. I'm holding off on revealing the case because this lead up is my time to prep, research, dissect articles, locate and interview notable parties and to start writing. And I want to do all that without outside ideas getting into my head.

But I will tell you, this story has made me feel all things I was feeling when I first started this almost four years ago. I feel it with my whole heart. It's the whole reason Faded Out ever began. It's really difficult to find the right words to describe it when the thought of this central character physically fills my heart with warmth, and simultaneously the that befell them feels like a weight on my chest.

The difference with this season is that with this story, the is not 'where are they?' or 'what happened?' We know that much here. This time the mystery is the why. And, how could this have been prevented?

I know April 24th is a long time to wait, but I promise I'll make sure it's worth it.

I have to admit I'm really very excited for my next season of Faded Out. It's a case that I've been aware of for a long time but only just recently thought I should do a story on it. It's slightly different from the first two seasons but every bit as gut wrenching.

You'll have to wait a while until we reveal the case... However, if you have a super super keen eye, you might find a clue regarding the background image of this picture. Just as with the first teaser pic.
