WELCOME: Click “LIKE” & join this movement which confirms your agreement to this long overdue & deserved recognition to have the Grammy Execs recognize Maze ft Frankie Beverly's career. This page is created by FANS who FEEL strongly about the Grammy Execs honoring one of the baddest bands in the nation, their due: Grammy recognition. Maze ft Frankie Beverly is: Frankie Beverly (Leader and lead vo
calist),
McKinley “Bug” Williams (Percussions & background vocals, who transitioned Sept 2011; he'll be missed), Roame (Congas & background vocals), Larry Kimpel (Bass guitar), John “Jubu” Smith (Lead guitar & background vocals), Carl Wheeler (Keyboards & background vocals), Vance Taylor (Keyboards), Calvin Napier (Drummer). Lead vocalist, Frankie Beverly was influenced by the sounds of Sam Cooke and James Brown. One of their most earlier gigs would be to have opened for the late great Marvin Gaye. It was under Marvin Gaye’s influence that the band was led to change their name and band member Roame would come up with name, “Maze”. Arriving to the music world in 1977 this R&B band, Maze ft Frankie Beverly would reach gold and platinum album status, constantly topping charts all over the world. Today, decades later, they still perform in world-wide record breaking sold out events. It wasn’t till I was at one of Maze ft Frankie Beverly's recent concerts that the reality was brought to my attention that in the history of their career, never had they been recognized or awarded by the Grammy Foundation. Although this influential group wrote songs that would touch millions for decades and continues to this very day, still Maze ft Frankie Beverly have yet to of been awarded the Grammy. It has been well known that in music history, because of Maze ft Frankie Beverly's sultry and silky smooth sound, that the world had a feel good tempo no matter their mood whenever one of their many "feel good" songs would grace the airwaves. Although written many decades ago, still today their music continues to uplift our "groove" and it will forever remain close to our hearts. With their priceless audience connection it is obvious that Maze ft Frankie Beverly will forever be one of those bands that truly touched us in a unique and special way. We have met our partners on, fallen in love to, and even birthed a generation as a result of the sounds by Maze ft Frankie Beverly in a span of over 4 decades. Therefore, isn't it time we give VOICE to this long overdue matter by letting the world, the Grammy foundation and the phenomenal Maze ft Frankie Beverly know that we truly ARE their number one fans? We don't want Maze ft Frankie Beverly to be recognized long after they're gone; we want them to be recognized while they can still FEEL the love deep down in their soul, that same love they’re showered us with. So help us get the word out to your FB friends, their FB friends, and millions more. We have a lot of work to do, but by the GRACE of God, together we CAN do this and show the Grammy Foundation that we DO mean business. So let's reach this goal and make music HISTORY!
****We're saddened by the recent transition Sept 2, 2011 of McKinley "Bug" Williams, longtime percussionist for Maze, who died of an apparent heart attack. The Philadelphia-born Williams was a life long friend of group lead Frankie Beverly and formed Maze with Beverly following the transition out of a group called the Butlers. On the Maze website, Williams is quoted as follows: "I've never really played with anyone else. I always wanted the same basic things that Frank wanted for the band and my attitude was, 'let's take it to the max.'" .com
