Tomato Festival in Spain

Tomato festival la tomatina" is a festival celebrated in the Valencia community, specifically in Buñol, a city located in eastern Spain. During this celebration, participants tossed tomatoes for the sole purpose of amusement. This tomato battle usually lasts an hour, a tradition that has been carried out since 1944 and takes place on the last Wednesday of August, the week when festivities are celebrated in this city.

In 1975, the city council took over the organization of the festival, and since then, the attendance has grown dramatically year after year. For this reason, rules and restrictions have been put in place that ensure the correct and safe performance of traditions, such as:

Tomatoes should be crushed before throwing to avoid hurting others.
It's only allowed to throw tomatoes, anything else is banned.
Attendees should make way for the trucks.
No bottles or heavy objects allowed.
Shirts must not be torn or thrown.

Senegal's pink lake
