Founded in 1981, Valsesia Musica (former Viotti - Valsesia) International Competition is a world-wide famous music event which highlights young talents on the music scene and promotes tourism in Valsesia as well. It takes place in Varallo - (VC- Italy) and is composed of different annual sections: violin and orchestra, piano, voice and juniores (piano, strings).

L’Associazione Culturale Valsesia Musica, con il patrocinio della Città di Borgosesia, in collaborazione con la Consulta Culturale e il Centro Studi e Documentazione Giovanni Turcotti, sabato 3 giugno alle ore 16, a Borgosesia, in Casa Turcotti, organizza un concerto pianistico dedicato ai 150 anni dalla nascita di Sergei Rachmaninov.
Si esibiranno tre giovani e talentuosi allievi del Maestro Vincenzo Balzani, Direttore Artistico di Valsesia Musica: Xing Chang, Giorgio Colleoni e Marcello Rolff.
Marcello Rolff, diciassettenne genovese, Giorgio Colleoni, pari età bergamasco e Xing Chang, ventenne cinese, il 21 maggio scorso sono stati tra i protagonisti della maratona pianistica tenutasi nell’ambito del Festival “Piano City” presso la Rotonda della Besana di Milano. La maratona, dall’evocativo titolo: “Rachmaninov’s Story”, ideata dal Maestro Vincenzo Balzani e curata da Pianofriends, è durata più di sei ore ed ha visto avvicendarsi alla tastiera sedici pianisti dai dodici ai ventisette anni nell’esecuzione di tutte le composizioni con numero d'opera per pianoforte solo di Rachmaninov.
Vincenzo Balzani e Catia Iglesias, rispettivamente direttore artistico e presidente di Pianofriends, ringraziano l’Associazione Culturale Valsesia Musica e la Dottoressa Marinella Mazzone del Centro Studi “G. Turcotti” per aver scelto di offrire un omaggio al grande “Tataro” (così lo definì il compianto Piero Rattalino in un suo libro) con tre dei giovani talenti che il loro sodalizio da molti anni aiuta a crescere musicalmente.
Alessandro Orsi, membro della Consulta Culturale del Comune di Borgosesia, farà un’introduzione storica. Il Maestro Balzani, al termine del concerto, ricorderà Giovanni Turcotti e Giorgio Orsolano, entrambi appassionati cultori della buona musica, cari a tutti i soci di Valsesia Musica.

Our Story

Founded in 1981, Valsesia Musica (former Viotti - Valsesia) International Competition is a world-wide famous music event which highlights young talents on the music scene and promotes tourism in Valsesia as well. It takes place in Varallo - (VC- Italy) and is composed of different annual sections: violin and orchestra, piano, voice and juniores (piano, strings and chamber music).

Due to Covid-19 emergency the 2020' s regulation has changed and the calendar has been modified as follows:

Violin and orchestra 7th - 9th October (video selection deadline 31 August, age limit 37 years old)

Juniores Competition (piano, strings, chamber music) 8th November (video selection deadline 30 September) Piano 10th - 11th December* (video selection deadline 31 October, age limit 37 years old) * in case the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic is continuing the finalists will be requested to submit a further video instead of performing live n Varallo.
