TRAFFIC ALERT 7:40 PM : US 29 SB in far southern Nelson near Tye River Bridge semi accident. Crews are now diverting all SB traffic down Route 56 Tye Brook to go south on 151.

Be advised that Rte 56 is currently shut down from Woodland Church Rd to the Buckingham/Nelson county line due to a tractor trailer accident. There is a detour in place at this time. Please use extreme caution when traveling the area. We will update when the road is reopened. Thank you.

Dry to start with much needed rain arriving from the south & west later this morning & into the afternoon. Highs today outside the mountains will remain in the mid to upper 40s & low 50s. Decreasing rain chances Friday with milder & drier conditions expected this weekend.

Widespread precipitation is likely all day tomorrow, November 14. The amount of rain has trended up and most of the region can expect between 1-1.5” of precipitation. There is an isolated risk of freezing rain or sleet early Thursday morning for the Greenbrier Valley and Alleghany Highlands but temperatures will warm up to prevent any major accumulation or traffic disruptions.

Fair weather is expected today under high pressure. A low pressure system will cross the area Thursday bringing much needed rainfall Thu into Thu night. Low pressure exits the area Friday with mostly cloudy and breezy conditions in its wake.

A low-pressure system will continue to develop across the Central Plains today. This system will bring rainfall to the region starting late tonight and continuing through all of Thursday.
Rainfall amounts are expected to range from 1" to 1.25" across most of the region. Cooler temperatures are also expected, especially on Thursday, when highs will only reach the 40s.
A brief period of sleet or freezing rain is possible at the onset of precipitation early Thursday morning in the mountains, though no accumulations are expected.

High pressure will move to the north tonight. Dry conditions with diminishing northerly winds tonight. Temperatures will be noticeably colder with lows in the middle 20s mountains to the lower 30s metros and Bay. High pressure will keep the region dry Wednesday and into Wednesday night. Highs Wednesday will be in the upper 40s to lower 50s with a light northeast to east wind. Clouds will increase ahead of the next cold front that will arrive from the west late Wednesday night into Thursday. Precipitation will move in from the southwest later Wednesday night into Thursday. Some mixed precipitation is possible over the higher valleys of the Alleghenies. As we get into the heart of Thursday, precipitation will transition into all rain. Rain amounts will be between one quarter to three quarters of an inch.
