Man burnt to death inside his house
A 31-YEAR-OLD man of Chililabombwe has been burnt to death in his house in unclear circumstances.
The victim, who has been identified as Sunday Chibamba, of PPZ Township, was burnt to death last Thursday, November 16, 2023 around 19:00 hours.
Copperbelt Province police commanding officer Peacewell Mweemba said Chibamba was staying alone at his house.
Mr Mweemba said the victim was last seen entering his house on Thursday around 18:00 hours.
“Some time after he entered his house, the neighbours saw Chibamba’s house on fire. Immediately they rushed to his house to try and rescue him,” Mr Mweemba said.
He said the neighbours unfortunately failed to retrieve the body from the inferno as it got burnt before the matter was reported to the police.
Mr Mweemba said David Kafololo, 42, later reported the incident to the police. He said police were yet to establish the cause of the fire.
“Police are yet to establish the cause of the fire at the house. The body of the deceased has since been deposited at Kakoso North Hospital awaiting burial as investigations continue,” Mr Mweemba said.
