Radio Hanoi Radio Hanoi was a radio station run by the North Vietnamese Army during the Vietnam War. It had an English language program which played rock music

It had an English language program which played rock music and featured news, directly from "Stars and Stripes" read in fluent English by a woman, Trịnh Thị Ngọ, who was commonly known as "Hanoi Hannah" however, there were actually many of women at the station who went by that moniker and one of whom, the second Hanoi Hannah was actually Thu Huong. Below is an excerpt from one of her broadcasts:


"How are you, GI Joe? It seems to me that most of you are poorly informed about the going of the war, to say nothing about a correct explanation of your presence over here. Nothing is more confused than to be ordered into a war to die or to be maimed for life without the faintest idea of what's going on." Many foreigners working in Viet-Nam at the time, as well as the US, South Korean, Taiwan ROK, and Australian troops heard for the first time many of the songs that were breaking through the charts back in San Francisco's Haight Ashbury neighborhood.
