This afternoon at 2:30pm, I will join Physicians for Social Responsibility Pennsylvania, author Justin Nobel, and several environmental advocacy groups and impacted residents at a press conference to discuss hazardous waste and worker safety in Pennsylvania. The press conference will be held in the Main Rotunda of the Pennsylvania State Capitol Building in Harrisburg. The event will also be livestreamed at www.SenatorMuth.com/Live.
The press conference will include a discussion on the public health impacts caused by exposure to hazardous waste, the need to close Pennsylvania’s hazardous waste loopholes, and the specific findings uncovered in Justin Nobel’s latest book, Petroleum-238: Big Oil's Dangerous Secret and the Grassroots Fight to Stop It.

A mud spill near the Mariner East LNG pipeline in Pennsylvania led local activists to conduct their own investigation fearing the spill may contain bentonite, which can be harmful to the environment.

are all over it!!
On Tuesday of this week, Senator Katie Muth and I put on our muck boots and battled brambles and quicksand like mud in the cold as we searched for the Energy Transfers drilling fluid.... which Mother Earth was like "no thank you" and spat out of our groundwater system. On Tuesday, Senator Muth was notified by the park that there was drilling mud coming out of the ground near the location of the original IR. She called me and we knew we had to get out there and document it for ourselves. So we did along with Ginny Marcille-Kerslake and Libby Locklear- Madarasz who got I. Their kayaks and tried to approach the area from the water.
What we found was sickening.
I can tell you right now my friends, there is a lot of drilling mud inundating the tributary right now. How is this impacting the precious life in this Expeptional Value Wetland?
I want to know what is going to happen to the other 100,000 gallons that was lost in our groundwater system? How has this impacted our aquifer recharge system? The residents deserve answers- we deserve TRANSPARENCY!
Thank you PA Environment Digest for covering this story.
"In response to a citizen complaint on February 15, DEP inspected a tributary that feeds the lake at Marsh Creek State Park in Chester County on February 16 and found a clay-like material contaminating the stream and a portion of the nearby wetlands.
DEP’s inspection report notes the area is the location where a sinkhole developed and an “inadvertent return” of drilling mud used in the construction of the Energy Transfer/Sunoco Mariner East Pipeline occurred in August 2020."

#Update on the Marsh Creek clean up, the dredging process is set to begin. Please keep your eyes on this- Energy Transfer is being allowed to clean up their own mess…. The criminal is allowed to clean the crime scene up. That’s PENNSYLVANIA for you. 😒 what is completely scary is there are still parts of the process that are going unchecked. DEP should be taking samples independently and testing them for several things - such as radiation, content, bacteria …. And how do we know the spill is contained in the area they say? What if it is deeper in the lake- who is checking that, the criminal? It’s been two years since they spilled. With all the rain events we have had, I have no doubt that the spill moved further down the channel and into the deeper parts of the lake. How is that impacting the wildlife? This ecology has been disrupted now, this summer, we are going to witness the biggest disruption to date- as if there hasn’t been enough trauma already. No worries #watchdogs will be watching. #WaSEPA Wasepa
Wallace Township Chester County Government …. When people don’t listen to us - we find out voice …. And he WORLD is watching - I suggest you fix this and do the right thing. Otherwise explain to me what #commUNITY means to you. I hope you are aware that I’m not going away and and so neither will this. Either stand with us and do the right thing as a public servant and that means everything you can possibly do - and YES- go above and beyond- Or you can sit there and wait for people like us to do it for you and imagine how that’s gonna look. All my love and I am doing this for all those who get ignored for all those were impacted and inconvenienced while our government seems to care more about convenience in the greater population. I don’t think you’ve learned your lesson this is why we call it environmental injustice. #NoSacrificeZones #NotHereNotAnywhere #ShutItDownShapiro And I would like to give a shout out to Uwchlan Township for your letter. Well done. So Upper Uwchlan Township- I’m waiting for yours. - Uh oh- PK rant coming - and for legal purposes I am not pointing out anybody in particular I am speaking generally here to any public servant. 😉 “you” is a general “you” Here we go: it shouldn’t be the residents to have to ask and beg you for it you should do it out of your own heart knowing what is the right thing. If this is about public service then make sure you look at the people who haven’t been served in your public and never ignore them again. Please do not allow the greater good to make the impacted feel like they have been left out - (and they sacrifice and give in for the greater good - - which is abusive) that is why I exist - give voice to those who do not have one (for whatever reason). I’m thinking you were aware that this voice (my loud mouth) will not go away, and you know that I am a rational person (you know it and it scares you 🤣) who will always act in good faith for this community and
This is a drone image that is sped up of the Mariner East reroute which the PADEP recklessly allowed, without having any groundwater impact studies and not addressing the concerns of the impacted community. The drone image starts with Marsh Creek Lake ,follows the reroute and then ends at the pump station or pig station Tie in at Little Conestoga Rd./Milford Rd. The lake image is where the spill is located and is also NOT yet cleaned up, as seen in the image. Yes, energy transfer is allowed to operate in the same watershed the destroyed, even though they haven’t cleaned up their mess. It is irrelevant if they are not doing horizontal directional drilling. For the DEP to posture it that way in order to allow a criminally charged, serial offender of environmental laws to operate and rush their work before permits expire, is a dereliction of duty in itself. Enabling criminals is a sign of public corruption. The REAL issue is that they do not have the scientific studies to know that they will not adversely impact to our GROUNDWATER, stormwater, and homeowners properties, especially after they’re all done, packed up and nowhere to be seen. Without having the baseline data is irresponsible, because when something does happen we have no ability to legally be made whole. To permit a serial offender of water contamination to operate without the appropriate studies is irresponsible and criminal. As well, with #climatechange, there has been and will be changes in how our rain falls, and therefore how it absorbs into the ground and recharges our groundwater system, aquifers, and overall impacts on our #waterways- all will be different. To use antiquated engineering and theories without considering these impacts and changes is reckless, and will become the burden of the local community. It’s a theme: the burden always lies on the resident the community the taxpayer- especially when our regulatory agencies aren’t doing their due dilige
