Been thinking a lot about Persona 5 lately, since listening to the soundtrack in full, nerding out with my partner over games in general, and him playing the demo of Metaphor: ReFantazia, which is made by the a lot of the same team that made P5. The vibe is really different, but contains a lot of the same DNA, in a great way.

I'm struck though, by how shocking and different seeing a new style is, but also, it's a familiar feeling - P5 was also shockingly new at the time, in its stark black, red, and white, with its jazzy soundtrack, and overall vibe of sleekness and COOL.

Its intro just oozes all of it, and it's one of those that I don't mind at all letting loop in the background, while the game sits idle on the titles screen. I've probably watched and heard it hundreds of times at this point, which is weird to think about.

Also, it's funny to see in retrospect, that this is very much the "S01" intro, if this were an anime, with its focus on the first few main characters and conflicts. Which works for a game, but I kinda want to see what the other OPs would look like, if that makes sense?

I remember reading or hearing somewhere, once, that "Sou desu ne..." is one of the most useful phrases to learn in Japanese, at least socially. "Oh, I see." "So that's it.." "Is that so?" It can be filler, to show you're listening. If Sumo commentary is any indication, "Hai," - yes, and "Naruhodo" - "I see" - are also good ones.

I forgot how much this video rules. So much work went into it, the dancing, acting, makeup, costume, SHOWBIZ work. The song tells its own story whenever you hear it, but this video shows one alternate version it could be. It's over-the-top in a way that makes it so it doesn't impede on your mental picture, just adds to it, if that makes sense?
Also, learning they're from Vegas makes things make a lot more sense too XD

I think one of the first times I heard this song, it was blaring from a ride at the State Fair, one of those with cars that go around on a bumpy track in a circle... things. We didn't ride the ride, but I have a very clear recollection of hearing it, and going "Whoah. That song is cool."

Though 'better' versions of this exist, upscaled and more clear, I think it was possibly this one or another of a similar transfer/quality that I originally watched, and the haze of artifacting and reproduction makes it more cozy, in a weird way.
