Happy Saturday :)

What a great way to kick off the weekend with another wonderful award for our Histoire de Love (bilingual rom-com) that recently got a third official selection in Tokyo and today I received this news that our short comedy film just snagged an Honorable Mention Prize at the Athens International Art film festival in Greece.

My colleague Alexandra Triantafillopoulos and I would like to say a big congrats to our amazing cast and crew as we continue to show the world through our film, how proud we are of our great multi-cultural talent in Montreal and just how great it is to be a bilingual city where English and French are spoken with such ease. Our film is also awesome for making multi ethnics feel very represented in French because our lead actor is Japanese and speaks it flawlessly. I did not see this type of representation in French films/TV in Quebec for years in our belle province so created it myself.

Our film has won awards in Los Angeles, New York, Japan, Australia, Greece and was selected from 900 films in France as the only Canadian film to represent our country in an international film festival there, ironically to promote English language films to the people of France. Hopefully someday a Quebec festival or a festival across Canada somewhere recognizes that local Canadian cultural diversity matters and representation does matter. Hopefully they can someday see in our film what some of the international festivals on the global festival circuit see in ours. :)

I just want to say a big thank you to every single person who is supporting our Montrealz Moments Podcast. Every guest that shared their perspectives, every crew member (Jan Roi Orque, Edith-Cecilia Varga), special collaborator Jr musician Joey Varga and every listener who takes time once a week to check out our episode. We are still a fairly new podcast and super unique because we talk about hot topics in North America, with a special emphasis on Montreal. Hot topics literally nobody talks about publicly but a lot behind the scenes...the business side of our industry, the unbelievable bureaucracy put in place in tax payer funded grants that benefit only a few at the expense of so many. And getting to hear from people of numerous cultural backgrounds who are leaders in various industries, content creators in the arts in our city and people who have something to say about our city with very relatable perspectives that we rarely see these days in our local media. So our podcast is fun North American pop culture, authentic conversations with Media figures and about Montreal...one of the best multi cultural cities in the world. :)

Happy Greek Independence Day to my Greek family members and friends. 🇬🇷🇨🇦

Had a great day attending events for the occassion with my colleague Alexandra T. and good friend Alexandra Valassis .

Our day started at a well known Greek church with a nice ceremony in the presence of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the Greek Prime Minister Kiriakos Mitsotakis and his family.

This was followed by a wonderful Greek Independence Day parade in the presence of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister Kiriakos Mitsotakis, Emmanuella Lambropoulos (MP St-Laurent), Annie Koutrakis (MP Vimy), Sona Lakhoyan Olivier, Députée de Chomedey , Mary Deros (City Councillor) and more.

We also got to see Elias Makos from CJAD and finally got to meet Journalist/book author Toula Drimonis in person.

It was so chilly but what a great turnout.

What a great weekend. For the first time I attended a women's day conference organized by the Italian community with my Zensa Media team and we had a lovely time. 🇨🇦🇮🇹

Congratulations to Antonio Sciascia, Francesca Sacerdoti, Michelina Lavatore and the entire organizing team for celebrating accomplished women in film at this event.

Hosted by Sabrina Marandola and guest panelists included the fabulous Claudia Ferri (we missed seeing you in person), Marina Orsini, Francine Allaird and Helene Rousse.

It was wonderful hearing from these inspiring ladies who talked about many things that were quite relatable to us as fellow artists in the industry. Especially Claudia who spoke about the realities of multi ethnic talent in Quebec vs in L.A with her personal experiences. I greatly appreciated her candor and am so happy she navigated those challenges and is doing great.

The panel was followed by a cocktail where we got to catch up with friends and made some new ones too. 😀

⭐⭐⭐⭐Had a fun time recording our Montrealz Moments Podcast upcoming episode with rising star Audrey Seguin (contestant season 9, La Voix on TVA).

Audrey is also doing performances for various events including corporate, teaches singing and is working on a new album that she is excited to share with the public soon.

In my conversation with her next Monday we will discuss the Montreal music industry, her Canadian and American role models, her experience on the Voice competition's French version show, what she learned from her coach French popstar Marc Dupre and if she could be our provincial Arts and Culture minister for a day, what would she do?

Had a wonderful evening in the company of Annie Koutrakis MP Vimy, Anita Anand MP/President of the Treasury board, François-PhilippeChampagne MP/Minister of Science and Innovation alongside fellow guests earlier this week.

It was so inspiring to see such accomplished women leaders Annie (from the Greek community) and Anita (from the Indian community) doing great work for Canadians. Also had fun chatting with Mr. Champagne MP/Minister of Innovation and Science. He has a fantastic sense of humor.

In our podcast episode with Simon, we discuss what is going on with ACTRA and the challenges within the industry in regards to work on TV commercials, the challenges of local film producers not getting enough support to create jobs in Montreal, the involvement of ACTRA during the American WGA/SAG strike for better salaries and working conditions and a few jaw dropping topics that are public information about our industry but were not discussed with the industry before being decided. And 10 million (US currency) of our tax money was given to an American film producer to create jobs for Quebec artists. Why would our province do that when we have many local Anglo and multi lingual film producers capable of creating excellent content with international appeal. Did that movie ever get made? There are two more he is supposed to follow up with without the premiere having read the script...say what? Yep it's true.

Artists and Quebec taxpayers...this is a must episode to check out to be better informed about the Canadian industry you work in.

I feel so privileged to be able to have such excellent conversations with Montreal Media figures like Jason Valentino Brown and Naveed Hussain that are authentic and genuine.

My Zensa Media team that is producing our Montrealz Moments Podcast are proud to be a platform where you will hear the real stuff behind the scenes. Opinions and information that will resonate with North Americans, with a particular emphasis on Montreal. People you already know or may get to know and see perspectives that will resonate or yes, your jaw might drop a few times on information that is public knowledge but you may have not didn't had someone directly affected by it to tell you what is going on in your own industry or backyard. My Zensa Media team welcomes you to our weekly episode featuring Montreal Nurse/Public figure Naveed Hussain . Naveed works at the McGill University Health Center and is a teacher and consultant in the industry.

He made headlines in the news with his petition for the Lionel Groulx metro station's name to be changed to the Oscar Peterson station. From then on, he has been featured on CBC, CTV, CityNews and even Radio Canada during the covid pandemic followed by the nurses strike.

In our podcast episode (part 1), Naveed gives us the inside scoop of what is going on behind the scenes with the nurses strike in Quebec who are looking for a more fair salary and working conditions. Naveed will also share what his personal experience is in the Quebec healthcare system and share just how important empathy is in his profession.

Naveed is truly a remarkable human being and probably one of the most well spoken and empathetic people I have met. He is a true inspiration and Montreal's healthcare system is very lucky to have him.

⭐⭐⭐⭐My Zensa Media team and I are very much looking forward to having Naveed Hussain, a health care professional/Media figure join us on our episode 2 of our new Montrealz Moments Podcast. This episode will premiere this Sunday afternoon.

In school we are not taught about the various industries we support as taxpayers and just how valuable many of those services are. The health care and education system being one of the most essential ones of a healthy society. Naveed is doing such great things for Montreal, one of the best multi cultural cities in the world. His leadership to speak on various media platforms such as CBC, CTV and CityNews about the nurses protests, the discrepancies in the health care system gives us an opportunity to know the nurses perspectives too.

So Naveed will give us the inside scoop on a few topics so we can understand why local nurses are the least paid in Quebec than in other provinces. As a public, we have to ask ourselves, how is that fair? How is that sustainable in the long-term? We should be a little socially engaged as this affects everyone in our city and our province.

Popstar Billie Eilish recently mentioned in an interview that she was going through a tough time feeling down on herself and then she got offered the hit song for the Barbie soundtrack. She said that opportunity to work on that song saved her.

Yep, that is quite amazing what art does. Music, film, theater, acting...it inspires, educates, can change lives for the better, encourages people to broaden their horizons and yes, even tackle language divisions (only in Quebec where this problem seems to exist) and systemic racism. So why are we not uplifting our own local Montreal Anglophone and multi ethnic talent?

Well...Quebecers continue to be massive consumers of American media in all its major formats... which is ok but it's also important to because their perspectives improve society for the better when art is done right.

Furthermore, were you aware that many English language TV networks have decided to remove local arts coverage while opting for more community stories? I was just as surprised to know this when the manager of a major broadcast show told me this.

So my Zensa Media team has decided to kick off our very cool Montrealz Moments Podcast this week to showcase our city's amazing and accomplished talent and entrepreneurs.

⭐🇨🇦🇺🇲What can you expect from our Montrealz Moments Podcast? Hot topics in North American media, with an emphasis on Montreal's industry. And we will feature exclusive conversations with Media figures who live in Montreal, are in Montreal to promote their work, or people who have something to say about Montreal, one of the best multi cultural cities in the world.

What was supposed to be a three episode comedy series is now well on its way to being a 10 episode full season webseries. 🙂
Fun with French is a first in Quebec. A bilingual series filmed Montreal and Los Angeles that shows the fun side of the French language. Also an hommage to my former French teacher in high school who taught an academic level French.

Looking forward to sharing episodes 5 and 6 coming up early 2024 with our fantastic Montreal and Los Angeles based cast members.. Mandip Brar, Spade the Hollywood celebrity dog, Edith-Cecilia Varga, Victor Calamote and Los Angeles South Asian actor Simon Makil.

Introducing acting debuts of the fabulous Pamela Pagano (City News Journalist/Public figure) and adorable Chou Chou Pablo (94.3 FM radio host Philo Lirette's cat) alongside Edith's kids Eva and Joey Varga. American Instagram/TIK TOK celebrity lorenapages will be making her debut as a voiceover artist in a webseries for Spade and Chou Chou Pablo.
