In my research on bushrangers, I came across the story of the Clarke brothers, some of the most ruthless outlaws in NSW during the 1860s. While Ned Kelly is often debated as either a folk hero or a criminal, it’s hard to argue the same for the Clarkes. Their crimes were brutal, and the government went to extreme lengths to bring them down. After a bloody shootout in 1867, they were finally captured and reportedly tied to this tree in Nelligen on the Clyde River before being sent to Sydney to be hanged.

I’m chuffed to share a tease of the artwork process by the talented Vika Zuban for my upcoming project, Ned Kelly & The 5 Revolvers. This story is a unique blend of sci-fi adventure mixed with historical Australian elements, featuring iconic bushrangers as complex anti-heroes. I’m really proud of the script, it’s packed with action, a dash of redemption 😉, and some unexpected twists along the way.

Here's to 2025! Did anyone receive any neat comic books for Christmas? Or watch any fun movies or TV shows? On Boxing Day, I took my son and nephew to Sonic the Hedgehog 3. I was pleasantly surprised at how entertaining this one was compared to the first two movies. 😎

How do you make one promotional image that can fit across multiple platforms and formats? I've been talking to my artist Vika about this for my next book, Ned Kelly & The 5 Revolvers. Vika suggested making an alternate cover where each character could be adjusted to a desired size on the canvas for whatever purpose, whether for a vertical poster, landscape project image for Kickstarter or even a square image. Check out some of the sketches below of some potential designs we were working on early in our discussions. The final cover design will be available as a variant cover in our Kickstarter campaign once it launches in March 2025.

I had a load of fun writing the introduction of Elvis meeting Gary in my book Gary Gorilla: King of the Dead. I've been an Elvis fan since I was a kid, and my fascination and intrigue with the guy rubbed off on much of the dialogue and nuances throughout the story. I sometimes found myself acting the dialogue out loud, making sure I paid my little tribute to this legend. It was a load of fun adding the King into this story and throwing him up against the crazy antics of Gary Gorilla. Elvis' story continues in the second book of the series, which is written and ready to be illustrated.
