Streaming Live Video From City Hall

Due to an Internet outage at City Hall tonight’s IDB meeting meeting will not be live streamed by the city.
A volunteer may go and share a Facebook live video here.

There was a special meeting of the board of commissioners last night. There were two items on the agenda:

1. The city discovered while negotiating purchase of a local hotel site that they weren’t taking into account the entirety of the property therefore the seller is now requesting a significant additional sum of money.
2. The city has an opportunity to purchase the parking lot just to the east of the refuge Church and wants to immediately proceed, offering well above appraised market value.

It’s just a 30 minute meeting. But it is probably worth your while to watch just to get caught up on where we are on this issue for which our taxes have recently been raised.

What may be surprising to find out is that the city got appraisals for this property they want us to buy but they did not feel a survey was in any way necessary or helpful. Mayor Roman made this clear.

(The city did not post notice in this group as they have for other things like job openings etc. in fact, if you subscribed on their website to be notified of meetings on the calendar, you didn’t get that normal notice either as there was “a staffing transition” issue related to procedures at City Hall.)
