It's a big day for these three seniors who participated in Sunday's LFCA/LHSCA I-20 Bowl. Ouchaita's Christian's Tate Hamby (white jersey No. 13) will sign with Vanderbilt today at at noon in the chapel at OCS. Earlier this week, Hamby was named the Northeast Delta HSA Impact Player of the Year. He certainly made an impact for the East squad in helping his team to a 15-14 win in the I-20 Bowl.
Calvary's Landon Sylvie (blue jersey, No. 19) will sign at 10am in Calvary's Fireside Room.
Byrd kicker Abram Murray will sign with the University of Miami at 3:30pm in the Learning Center at Byrd High School.
Congratulations to these young men and all of the other players across North Louisiana who will making it official by signing their Letter of Intent today on . These three are the ones we know about. If we missed someone, put it in the comments. Thanks!

For the first time in the history of the LFCA/LHSCA I-20 Bowl, we had a band in the stands at Ruston High School. The Huntington High School Marching Band was selected as the 2023 North Louisiana Band of the Year by the I-20 Bowl committee. Under the direction of Mr. Roderick Jefferson and drum major Antonio Holmes (pictured), the Raiders did an excellent job on Sunday of enhancing the game day experience for both the spectators and players. The City of Byrd and all of North Louisiana lost a true legend this weekend with the passing of Dr. Billy Bundrick. The picture below is from 2018 when Dr. Bundrick was honored at a C.E. Byrd football game as the school celebrated the naming of the football field on campus in Dr. Bundrick’s honor. He was an amazing athlete in high school before moving on from 3201 Line Ave. He went on to play football at Louisiana Tech. After graduating, he chased his dream of becoming a world renowned orthopedic surgeon who operated and treated hall of fame athletes like Terry Bradshaw and Karl Malone. While Bradshaw and Malone had access to the best doctors the Pittsburg Steelers and Utah Jazz could find, those stars—and many more— would always come home to North Louisiana to get treatment from Dr. Bundick. While he would work with the best athletes in the world, he would also spend countless hours on the C.E. Byrd sidelines treating Byrd student-athletes with the same care and compassion as the professional. He also allowed Yellow Jacket coaches to bring their teams in for physicals. Not only did Dr. Bundrick give of his time and medical expertise, he also gave financially. Many of our athletes today enjoy Byrd’s athletic facilities thanks in large part to the generous contributions of Dr. Bundrick. Funeral services are set for Tuesday, December 19th. Please keep his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers. Dr. Bundrick was 85. Rest in peace, Dr. Bundrick. 💜💛🐝💜💛

The Play of the Game from an early Game of the Year candidate. Let’s set it up, North Caddo’s KJ Black scores on a 6-yard run with 2:32 left in the third to give the Titans the lead at 20-13. Homer answered to tie it but—not so fast, my friend—the Homer Pelicans had too many men on the field. The score was 20-19, until less than a minute left in the game. Homer scored on a short touchdown pass in the flat with 23 seconds remaining in the game to make it 25-20 Homer. A short kick from Homer gave the Titans the ball near midfield. A 50 yard pass from Juvontavious Hodge to LSU commit Omarion Miller gave the Titans the ball first and goal inside the 5-yard line with 13 seconds left in the game. After two plays, the Titans had one more chance as one second remained on the scoreboard. Hodge went back to bass looking for a throwback screen, but instead found Homer Pelicans in his face and grabbing at his jersey. He retreated, able to break free and found KJ Black all alone in the back corner of the end zone. Black cradled in the pass giving the Titans a 26-25 walkoff win in Week No. 1 of the high school football season. Hollywood producers could not have written a better script as it was Dexter Long Night. Long, who is the grandfather of Black and Miller, passed away earlier this year, was a longtime ambassador for youth athletics in the North Caddo community. Black was asked about his performance on a night when his late grandfather was honored. The junior shook his head, searching for the words to relay how special it was. “I know he was watching,” Black said. “I know he is proud.”
