Baez is still part of Amnesty International today. She founded the US West Coast chapter, signed the anti-torture petition in 1973 and went on tour for Amnesty in 1986. Under the motto "Non BLUES Ultra", the 43rd Lahnstein Blues Festival offers its proven program mix in cooperation with Radio/TV Südwestrundfunk: regional, national, international.
On Saturday, September 23, at 7:00 p.m., the festival, which was founded in 1981 in the Stadthalle Lahnstein, will provide a special highlight in the cultural summer of 2023.
As part of the festival, the renowned Lahnstein Blues Prize, the “Blues-Louis”, which has been awarded since 1997, will this year be awarded to guitarist, singer and composer Carl Carlton. "For decades he has been the most popular German blues guitarist, both nationally and internationally," the organizers explain.
The laudatory speech will be given by the author, moderator and music journalist Volker Rebell.
